I too am reserving my comments till we see the thing in flesh, but IMO it is the classic case of companies trying to bring their full size model design language into their subcompacts making them look disproportionate.

Just like how the Aura and Creta turned out to be, lets say different, this is also the case of them trying to bring down the large Hyundais/ Genesis family look down to the smaller models. Also I am sure that the above pics have been stretched to look more lower and wider, while IRL it will look anything but. Remidns me of the adverts that TATA used to run for the Indigo XL. They stretched the image to make it look lower, wider and with a flat long bonnet. And we all know it was just the slapped on a hatchback Indigo stretched in the middle.

Looks like they are trying to mimic the Azera/ Grandeur than the Elantra.

Hello, I don't know if my opinion is right or wrong, but why Hyundai India is releasing facelift / All New Verna 2023. Instead they should stop producing Verna and increase production of Creta.

Verna's average monthly sale is 1500 - 1600 units a month and if Hyundai spare the production line used for Verna and start manufacturing additional 3000 Creta on that production line, Creta will have less waiting period and more people will buy Creta.

Frankly I don't think 2023 Verna will be able to sell even 1000 units a month.

The upcoming Verna is not a facelift but an entire new model / platform. Also, India is a production hub for Verna model and is being exported to various markets. Last I remember they were producing 5K avg verna. 1.5K ~ 2K for domestic and rest for export markets, and with upcoming Verna the domestic volumes are set to rise to 3.5K a month.

Coming to your second point of shifting the production capacity to Creta , it is not that simple as it may sound because it involves aligning the production capacity of entire supply chain of tier 2 , tier 3 vendors and not just Main Plant Assembly Capacity. Hyundai was producing Creta + Alcazar at an average of 20K with 80 ~ 85% allocation for domestic market and this is going to further increase in future with Creta Export shift to Indonesia.

Hyundai axing diesel in Verna seems like a sign that Creta, Seltos, etc. will no longer be available when the new emission norms kickin. I strongly believe this as they are slowly taking it from one car to another.

Hyundai is already upgraded their 1.5 CRDi Engine for upcoming norms and it is going to stay for all SUVs in the Hyundai-Kia Stable. It has been discontinued in i20 due to very low penetration and the price hike would have made it only worse. The upcoming Verna was always perceived as a petrol only design since the designing stage as the Segment is also petrol dominant.

Concur with what my fellow Lemedico said.

My 2 cents on what decides the fate of a car or SUV in India, an ugly/ in your face design not withstanding:

1. >= 4 airbags & NCAP rating for safety nuts.
2. >= 8 inch touchscreen with a lag feer response and wireless AO/ ACP
3. Sunroof. Panoramic sir? = Puhleez

My observations might sound blunt, but that's how we sum up in terms of data points when analyzed.

Judging by the siluhuette on the teaser, based on the curves looks like it's going to look much better than those earlier pictures. Let's hope it is the case, can't say much about the design till then. If the pictures posted are really the outgoing model, then it basically looks like they cut a Creta in half, hammered it to make the rear shorter to make it look like a sedan and took the Tucson's front, trimmed it down a little. Honestly looks like a KIA inspired design, I think they're trying to follow the Genesis design language here as well. Fingers crossed, let's hope the outgoing car doesn't look this bad :(

IF these are indeed genuine pictures, the car looks really good & dare I say, almost stunning with its stance. Need more lighting and angles to see the actual face of the front fascia.

Looking at the screenshots - the front looks heavily inspired by Tucson's design. Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing. The styling overall is weird, and given the sedans have lost favor in masses, this might not sell as much, unless it clearly differentiates itself from rivals (City, VW twins, Ciaz etc.)

The front grille design seems to be Hyundia's new design language!

The front look is something that I feel needs to be seen in person and might grow with time.

The rear looks much nicer than front in my opinion.

Lets hope they provide GC comparable to Virtus/Slavia. In SUV dominated market, it is interesting to see Hyundai bringing a new generation Verna. I'm pretty sure it would be loaded from inside. We also have Honda city facelift coming up.
