Yes, that's true !! My wife is also of the same opinion and her heart is set on Red Slavia but at the same time I am little sceptical about overall Skoda experience and DSG Reliability. Also, I personally have a soft corner for Honda since we already have Civic in our garage, its a GEM and City - Facelift is around the corner !! And, then with all the news on Next Gen Verna, leaps ahead of the current offering, I am little confused and delaying the decision to next year.

As a matter of fact this is what exactly it is going to be !!

With the information I had, all upcoming Full Model Change from Hyundai will drop Fog Lamps, consequently headlamps positioning will be lowered on the bumpers and the connected LED Strip (as in tail lamps) for DRLs will be introduced. This change in the design element will do away the NEED of a FOG LAMP.

Following the announcement of new 1.5L turbo petrol engines for Korean twins complying to Phase 2 of BS6 emission regulations (https://www.team-bhp.com/news/rumour...-petrol-engine), Verna is also expected to get one. This should bring more attention to sedan segment where only Slavia and Virtus offer a proper sporty engine and transmission (1.5 TSI) today. Competition is going to get tough for VW twins as Hyundai definitely offers a more feature packed product, as evident so far in all the segments.

VW twins can still boast about the driving pleasure they offer. Ohh, wait! There will be a sportier N line variant of Verna on the offer for more evolving driving experience. Just like i20 N line and Venue N Line, it is expected to come with a cosmetic changes to interior/exterior, all-wheel disc brakes and stiffer suspension with a throatier exhaust note.

As per my source, the powertrain is current petrol 1.5 MT & CVT and new Turbo 1.5 MT & DCT.
We will see ADAS & Dual Screen Setup for sure and all 4 disc brakes on regular model only. Also, the car has been redesigned specially taking care of the rear seat comfort and headroom and yet the thrill of driver's car.

N Line is not on the cards for this year atleast

Launch will happen by Mar'23 as current Verna is already out of production and will see last dispatches this month.

There are few pics doing round on internet showing red brake callipers, hence hoped for N line launch this year.
There is no official communication yet, even on the normal variant, so not sure when the actual plans are.

With MG, though Hector launch was delayed by 2 months (expectation was Nov'22) they kept the buzz going on with teasers. No such activities from Hyundai
It's a long wait sans excitement.

New Verna will definitely be worth checking out for.

Next-gen Hyundai Verna India production to start in March 2023. However global debut and market launch by the second quarter of 2023.

A major chunk of made-in-India Hyundai Verna (BN7i) will be earmarked for exports as well.

New-gen Verna will be sold as petrol-only
Will get ADAS tech, dual-screens on the inside
India will be a key export hub for the new Verna

Hyundai is expected to continue with the current 115hp, 1.5-litre, naturally aspirated petrol engine. It will also likely receive a new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine that’s an updated version of the 140hp, 1.4-litre unit that currently does duty on the Creta. The current Verna uses a much smaller 120hp, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol unit from the i20. This new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine will eventually replace the 1.4-litre turbo-petrol unit in all models it is offered in the Hyundai-Kia line-up.

This segment will go on to become a petrol-only one.

There goes my dream to have a diesel Verna . I thought they would be putting the new 1.5 diesel engine which complies with upcoming norms in the upcoming Verna. We saw news about only I20 diesel getting discontinued but current gen Verna would still continue with 1.5 diesel which does duty in Creta, can't they do the same for the next gen Verna too?

It looks like a good design. My only hope is that the back seat space will be increased (which was one of the major downsides of the current and previous generation).

There will be a lot of competition in this segment. City will be offering lower versions of its hybrid model, etc.

Because it costs too much.
With car prices as they are today, the last thing we need is more expensive kit.

Plus who is looking at Hyundai for thrills and fast performance (not including the full N range here)? Most of its clientele want a no fuss car with edgy looks.

Even the Elantra no longer gets the 2.0l diesel (or any diesel), less said about the Verna. Even historically, the Verna/ Accent never had any engine above 1600cc. Though they surely could have given the 1.5l diesel for the Verna given the fact that they are planning to continue offering it in the Venue too.

Agree on the Alcazar. They managed to give the old 2.0l petrol engine in the Alcazar, what stopped them from giving a 2.0l diesel too.

Probably the Alcazar should have had the 2.0 Diesel, but the Verna should have done fine with the existing 1.5 diesel unit from the Creta. But you cannot fault hyundai, the sedan segment itself has been dwindling in sales and with 2 more competitors ( Slavia and Virtus ), the pie just got smaller. So it makes sense to just have two petrol engines.
