More CKD and CBU products on the cards going ahead for Skoda India.

Although local production of the Superb and Octavia sedans is likely to be discontinued, the company will bring the models in as completely knocked down (CKD) units or completely built unit (CBU) imports to cater to the demand in those segments.

Also, the company is expecting higher allocation for its top-of-the-line premium Kodiaq SUV in 2023, which will be able to capitalise on the strong demand in the high end market.

I was under the impression the Octavia was already a CKD, brought in as broken down kit form and assembled here. Is the Octavia a heavily localised product?

Octavia have always been CKD, other than recent VRS which I believe was CBU

Alright as I thought, although I am confused still then because of the Autocar article excerpt above which stated:

As of now - no discounts in Hyderabad. Checked 5-6 days back. Went for a test drive for Octavia with One of my friends.

Don’t think anyone has any ready stock to begin with, so discounts won’t happen.

Ok dealer in Gurgaon offered some 2 lac worth of offers, including service pack till year 4 and the top of the line insurance.

Local dealer (Gurgaon) has ample stock and offered me the following. Also note this is just 1 dealer out of 7-8 that are there in NCR (likely more). I guess competition is good and Superb is not their fastest moving product. The impending march deadline might result in some great offers coming up if stocks last.

That Sportline in Steel Grey with black accents is just divine and so Euro . If we were in the market for a new chauffeured sedan, would have gone for this eyes closed.

During my purchase around the end of September, got an INR 1.xx Lacs discount on ex-showroom price + self purchased insurance with all inclusions (dealer was willing to match the quote), no push for any accessories on a Škoda Superb L&K Moon White with cognac interiors (exterior colour choice restricted by the interior colour that was a priority for my purchase decision).

The dealer is Zedex Skoda, Patparganj, New Delhi. Have had a great experience dealing with the sales advisor. They had ample stocks of Škoda Superb around beginning of October for both L&K and Sportline trims.

I haven’t managed the time to write an initial review of the car, however, suffice to say that in the daily grind of a mad-mad world, it’s an oasis of calm—so taking the Superb out on the roads each time for a drive is an absolute bliss, despite the horrific NCR traffic conditions. Hoping to write more on my purchase and ownership experience soon..

Just realised that since the reason for discontinuation is the 2.0 TSi engine, this means that even Tiguan and Kodiaq will get affected and their sales too may stop as all these models have the same engine.

Skoda and VW will then only be left with MQB-A0 IN products plus any CBUs they want to bring in.

Makes sense, doesn't it?

My understanding is that they do not have the same engine, atleast not the exact same specification.
I forget the engine code but the Tiguan and Kodiaq come with AWD and run a completely different engine spec, despite on the surface being a similar 2L in displacement and having the same BHP and Torque figures etc.
This different engine spec adheres to the upcoming emission/regulation change and hence they comply thus will continue to be offered on sale through MY23.
