Re: Spied testing: 7-seater based on Citroen C3

Sharing screen captures of the spy video, for those who have not seen it.

These stills give a fair idea of its size. It's, more or less, the same size as the Seltos.

Re: Spied testing: 7-seater based on Citroen C3

Citroen has a huge task ahead of themselves. This Creta / Setlos / GV segment is the toughest segment and is only going to get further competitive.

Hope the Citroen team has learned from the previous launches and will spec & load this car to the grill to take the segment right from the word Go! Lack of automatic / both utility & fancy features in the car (especially considering the segment) will kill this product no matter how is it to drive.

Fingers crossed! Looking forward to the 27th..

Re: Spied testing: 7-seater based on Citroen C3

I would be pleasantly surprised if Citroen managed to launch this so called Creta rival with par for the course engines, gearbox (AT) and features. I mean, they have royally botched it up with their first and most important small car. How could Citroen not offer an automatic considering that their first target base is the more informed customer base in urban cities?

And unlike the smaller car, this 15-20 lakh segment can be pretty unforgiving. You launch a half baked product with lesser features and customers just wouldn’t bother. Suzuki and Toyota had to really up their game with their Grand Vitara and the Hyrider.

Most importantly, the Koreans have petrol, turbo petrol and diesel with a variety of gearbox options. The Japanese have the hybrid, and the niche players like VW and Skoda have two turbo petrol options with different gearbox setups and probably have a legacy of driver focused cars and better build quality, safety etc. Citroen cannot talk only about suspension or french design , they have to bring something unique.

Re: Spied testing: 7-seater based on Citroen C3

Undisguised view of the C3 Aircross!

- Citroen C3 Aircross 5-seater will get Puretech 82 engine while 7-seater will get both Puretech 110 and Puretech 82 engine options.

-It gets an all-new front fascia, establishing visual differences from its hatchback counterpart.

- On the inside, there are roof-mounted new AC vents for rear passengers and a fully digital instrument cluster as well.

-Fog lamps and reflector halogen headlights are likely to be identical to C3 hatchback. No LEDs or projectors.

- Citroen C3 Aircorss is even more feature-loaded when compared to Shine trim with C3 hatch. The main gain over C3 Shine is a fully-digital instrument cluster with a tachometer (about time). The said tachometer is circular and encases its speedo.

- Fuel level display and engine temperature display flank this circular tachometer.

- There is an Eco (leaf) indicator as well. So, drive modes are highly likely.

- Roof-mounted AC vents get their own blower with 3 adjustable fan speeds. The rear AC vents resemble those at the center console, unlike on an Ertiga. This is a neat touch. There are two USB outlets for third-row too. Both are Type-A.

- Automatic climate control is still absent.

Re: Spied testing: 7-seater based on Citroen C3

A bigger Datsun Go Plus with the same rear space and comfort.

Citroen what are you thinking?

82 hp engine to take on Creta Seltos?

I mean even the 1.2 turbo would be a slow coach for a 4.3m SUV

UNLESS CITROEN WILL SURPRISE AND UNLEASH A SUB4 METER TRIBER COMPETITOR.

Re: Spied testing: 7-seater based on Citroen C3

I don't know what Citroën is even thinking. They still haven't figured out that Indian customers WANT features. Forget segment first, it seems like the C3 Aircross doesn't even have segment standard features. No LED lights? No auto climate control? Lift type door handles? Looks like there is no leatherette upholstery too! When the C3 hatchback was launched, it was criticised for the same reason, but one saving grace was the peppy turbo petrol engine. And Citroën decides to plonk the same engine in its Creta fighter and expect it to sell? Seriously?

All I can see is a Fiat / Chevrolet situation here.

Re: Spied testing: 7-seater based on Citroen C3

This is a Triber rival, not a Creta rival. Citroen is basically emulating its French cousin Renault. Literally copy pasting the strategy by launching their C5 Aircross first to create brand image like Duster did for Renault and then entering the budget car market like Renault did with the Kwid/Kiger and Triber. So the C3/C3 Aircross and whatever iteration in between will be Citroen's way of expanding their customer base. Don't know why but it feels like theyre only in India to benefit from low manufacturing cost for export markets.

If this is beyond 4m it will bomb like the Renault Lodgy considering the pricing and taxes. Which would be ironic considering you'd expect Citroen to do some basic study on Renault before entering India.

Did the Kia Carens success give them some sort of false security?

Re: Spied testing: 7-seater based on Citroen C3

If this is 4.3m in length then I feel Citroen is targeting the Ertiga rather than Creta/Seltos. But with this kind of feature list and specifications on offer, even competing with Ertiga seems very difficult task for C3 Aircross.

Re: Spied testing: 7-seater based on Citroen C3

Why will people go for this over an Ertiga or Carens? Let us not forget the lower variants of the Creta, Seltos, Taigun, Harrier, Safari, XUV 7OO etc. The mere presence of a turbo petrol will not be enough to guarantee their success. This car screams cheap, just how the C3 screams cheap for its own class.

Unless they price it strictly within the 7L-10L bracket(highly unlikely), it seems like a dead on arrival product. Since we are talking about cheap interiors, is this how Citroen wants to be perceived in India? When they first came in, I thought of them as being the French version of VW/Skoda but with their recent launches, they are appearing more like the French version of Datsun.

Quote:
The C3 Aircross comes with a 1.2-litre Turbo-petrol engine that is good for 110hp and 190Nm of torque. This is the same powerplant that sees duty in the C3. As far as gearbox options go, the C3 will go on sale with a six-speed manual initially. There will also be an automatic though this is likely to miss the launch date, our sources indicate that Citroen are struggling to secure automatic gearbox units from supplier AISIN.

Re: Spied testing: 7-seater based on Citroen C3

This product sounds like a solution for a problem that doesn't exist. Nobody asked for a Creta-sized car with 5+2 seats with a very short features list.
