Spied testing: 7-seater based on Citroen C3

The Citroen C3 in it's extended avatar was caught on the streets of Pune by our friendly neighbourhood AutoSpy.

No numberplates, although a TN numberplate was spotted inside the car. Interiors were exactly the same as the current C3.

Judging from the length, it's very likely to be the 7-seater version of the C3. No confirmation on it being an AT though.

That looks like a third row. 4+metre rival of the Renault Triber?

Re: Spied testing: 7-seater based on Citroen C3

Citroen going the Renault way? Its a shame that global manufacturers are attempting such cars which are not true 7 seaters at all. Citroen should have attempted something like the Ertiga, which virtually has no competition and is a proper 3 row car. Renault’s image in India is probably of a budget Car brand now, after the likes of the Kwid and the Triber now. Does Citroen want to position themselves as an alternative to Renault or someone like Kia / Hyundai?

Re: Spied testing: 7-seater based on Citroen C3

Almost every global car makers are trying to get in the 7 seater segment. In the end they would make a joke of themselves. C3 isn't really supposed to be a 7seater.

They probably would have had more success if they started out launching a 7 seater c5 aircross

So another one targetting the Ertiga/ Karens segment. Not an enthusing proposition - transverse engined fwd 7 seater. Maybe car makers know something about car buyer preferences which I am oblivious to.

What Citroen C3 begs for is an automatic gear box. No one asked for a 7 seater variant ! At least in the turbo variant they can have a torque converter or a CVT gear box.

Re: Spied testing: 7-seater based on Citroen C3

Poor attempt by Citroen. Instead of a 7 seater, they should be working on a C segment SUV/Crossover to complement the C3. IMHO 7 seater cars must be spacious, solid and comfortable and not cheap extensions of hatchbacks. Can’t they learn anything from success of Kia/Hyundai/MSIL? I don’t wish to see brands like Citroen, Jeep, VW/Skoda failing miserably but sometimes their leaders seem to be missing the basic common sense. Or perhaps, they are too rich to understand the mass market and believe their top-class MBA degree is all what is needed to capture a market.

Re: Spied testing: 7-seater based on Citroen C3

Apparently, the cost cutting that Citrôen is imposing to meet India's socio-economic needs will continue to guide all models derived from the C-Cubed project. In doing so, Stellantis will continue to further limit the chances of possible commercial success of its new models in other regions of the world, such as Latin America.
In this region of the world, the new C3 is receiving harsh criticism in several aspects, but mainly regarding the exaggerated simplification in the aspects of quality of finish and safety, since Citroên insisted on offering a very simple finish and offering only 2 airbags as standard, while the competition is evolving and offering much better models for practically the same price.
It is likely that this 7-seater model is being designed mainly for the Indian market, as this segment is not common in Latin America. This will make the chances of the model failing in that region enormous if it is launched locally. Citrôen may even try to deceive consumers and position it as an entry-level B-segment SUV, but it will hardly be able to compete with other models made or more adapted exclusively for that region, such as VW Nivus, Fiat Pulse and the future Renault model.
The chances of failure would increase even more if the French brand insists on positioning it in the "premium" B segment, as it would not be able to compete with more renowned models in the region, such as VW T-Cross, Chevrolet Tracker, Jeep Renegade, Nissan Kicks, Honda H-RV, Hyundai Creta, Fiat Fastback and the future SUV that Toyota is developing.

Re: Spied testing: 7-seater based on Citroen C3

I genuinely think Stellantis India has lost it.

FCA allowed Fiat to wither on the vine, they nearly murdered Jeep by not bringing in any competent products apart from the Compass, and now a 7-seater Citroen C3?

Seriously Stellantis, this is ridiculous. We ALL want you to succeed, given that you’re bringing some very competent powertrains and are sellling cars that do decently in the feature department (except the C3) as well. And THIS is how you reward us?

Quick note, I remember Chevy were working on a 7-seat Beat. Wanna know what happened after that? They packed up.

Not cool, Stellantis India.

It seems like French carmaker Citroen is simply trying to emulate their French neighbor, Renault's, product strategy in India, by upsizing Renault’s offerings in India. They used the enlarged Renault Kwid’s mould to shape their own C3 hatchback with a twist, and now an extended version of the C3 has been spotted testing with 7 seats, again an enlarged version of the Renault Triber.

Well, usually every car manufacturer wants to become an aspirational brand to earn a higher profit, but how come French car makers want to settle down for a budget carmaker tag?

Anyone know what this model/make is?
