Despite all the bashing that Citroen receives for feature allocation in their cars, this could really be a game-changing plan. An electric 7 seater in the 20L space would really be something as currently we have only the sub 4m Nexon and 4.2m XUV4OO available.

The car is expected to launch in the second half of the year (some reports say mid July) while sales begin around the festive season. Nothing confirmed yet.

Citroen India hasn't yet commented anything related to the dismal performance at the Latin NCAP crash test.

If you get the chance, please ask them about whether we can expect a better result from the Indian C3.

New Citroën C3 Aircross 2024 in basic version for Brazil.

- SUV will hit the market in options for five and seven occupants always with 1.0 Turbo Flex T200 engine and CVT transmission

- Citroën C3 Aicross 2024 in the basic version will have 16-inch steel wheels and hubcaps

- In the entry option, the SUV will only have a five-seat option. The option for seven passengers will be offered in a Live Pack version.

-At the front, the Citroën C3 Aircross bust in its entry-level version will come with headlights with conventional bulbs, but will have LED DRL lights, it will also lose the auxiliary headlights.

-The lower air intake and the main grille will be in black, on the top of the line, they will be finished in Piano Black. The bumper also loses the silver skid plate.

-in addition to having steel wheels and hubcaps, the Citroën C3 Aircross Live 2024 has unpainted mirrors

The 1.0 Turbo Flex T200 engine and CVT transmission will be standard on the C3 Aircross sold in Brazil. Power is 125 hp at 5,750 rpm and torque is 20.4 kgfm at 1,700 rpm. With ethanol, power increases to 130 hp at 5,750 rpm and torque of 20.4 kgfm at 1,700 rpm. The exchange will be the automatic CVT that simulates seven virtual gears.

In terms of safety, the new Citroën C3 Aircross 2024 will have traction and stability controls, ramp departure assistant, ISOFIX system for child seat attachment, ABS brakes with EBD and four airbags, two front and two side.

Although there is a lot of noise in the market with the Honda Elevate and Kia Seltos facelift launches and the upcoming Creta facelift launch, I think the C3 aircross will redefine the lower end of the segment. While the entry level variants of the other mid size SUVs have gone up to almost 11 lakhs plus ex-showroom, there is quite a vacuum in the 8 to 10 lakhs space, with only the lower variants of sub-4 meter SUVs ruling the roost. For someone on a budget, wanting a spacious SUV and not caring about fancy features, there are hardly any optiins.

For example, for my mother I am looking for a replacement to her 9 year old Punto, which is starting to feel a little too low and cramped for her and her sister to use. They always use a driver via a dial-a-driver service and all they need is a slightly elevated seating position, (SUV), lots of space at the back, air conditioning, a supple ride and an overall safe car. They are not looking for fancy features for the front seat occupants or for smooth automatically transmissions. Nor are they looking for a big sunroof or a fancy sound system. They are not prepared spend more than 8 to 9 lakhs on their next car and so far, the options were limited to used Ertigas or S-crosses. I am pretty sure there are number of potential buyers, especially seniors, in this price segment, wanting a product such as this. I think this car has the potential to be a massive hit in the entry and lower variants, as compared to the other players in the segment, if Citroen can demonstrate the reliability and ease of maintenance.

Lack of basic creature comforts like Automatic Climate Control, Start Stop are a must in today's times. Not having a diesel engine is no sin, but not having an AT tranny is a bigger sin. This car lands in no man's land. No matter how much I like it, after a few weeks of initial hoopla, this will sink without a trace.

Unfortunately the C3 Aircross will be 'dead on arrival'. Notwithstanding, the initial sales spike (if at all), the car will be forgotten by both the masses and the enthusiasts. Citroen will most likely attempt at most 2 more car launches in India before packing up and leaving the country for good within the next 3-4 years. Citroen dealers will be frustrated with the failed products and start shutting shop soon.
