Well what is so bad about a hollow steering rod? Per my understanding a hollow shaft can provide better torsional rigidity for the same mass/weight. This is a weight reducing measure although this might increase the outside diameter of the shaft. This is very basic/ fundamental mechnical/civil engineering tenet.

Maruti will surely reduce the price of 800. upto what an extent lets wait & see.

Tata has decided to call it "JEH" (for Jehangir Tata)...
also it will have Ac for base version
Well I personally have no interest in this Car - as I think IMHO that it is going to cause only chaos & madness on the streets.
The channels meanwhile are having a ball of a time - especially our favourite channel ( India TV ) - it is showing us Animated Possibilities of what the Tata One Lac car will be like.
Oh !!!! It's going to be a field day for the Media tommorrow morning.

Was watching Star News a while ago... (i know the worst possible news channel, but our choices are limited here in London).
They had (seemed to) used the possible pictures of the car from TeamBHP. All the pictures were posted here. Even saw the one i ripped from a german magazine, the most futuristic one in light blue colour.

Thats definately possible for Maruti, but we do need to wait and see what TATA have as thei variants for this wonder car. If they can come out with a diesel for 1.5 lacs, then I think people may still opt this rather than petrol 800.
Tata does have a few aces up their sleeve like diesel and CVT against the 800. Although the M800 has history and proven reliability running for it.
Anyway you look at it, its great news for consumers as they are going to get an affordable car soon.clap:
Another thing we need to keep in focus is the second hand car market in a year's time from now....
M800 prices will probably crash if Maruti decide to reduce their prices now.
