The fuel flap is on the left for the Safari too - no surprises there.

They stopped making cars/passenger vehicles with Rain Gutters after the Sumo.

The vehicle is missing its sidesteps, though - the naked frame below the doors should be holding the steps.

I think it wont replace sumo just yet. Tata will price it just below scorpio, tavera and Innova. Gradually sumo will be phased out and phoenix will take its place. This UV atleast from the pics look to good to be priced that cheap. seriously.

Tata Phoenix is the new Tata Sumo and is aimed at mainly countering the Mahindra Ingenio, which will look more or less the same (atleast from the side view), both of them have been brought in to cater to the Innova market.

Sumo will be phased out and only the spacio will remain to cater to its current low end Taxi or people mover market.

Personally prefer it on the right side, where it is easier to keep a watch on the fuelling and the driver area simultaneously.

If it is priced right I do not see the bolero lasting long. The shape is good and if the interiors of the ol Sumo are anything to go by it will have more interior space than the bolero.

The bolero was always a bit short of space. Legroom at the front and middle was a joke.

Could this be the next generation Safari ( code named X2 ) which is also
due in late 2008

....Just an after-thought

Cheers
Hope this is not the X2. I was expecting big things from TATA for the X2.

This looks like the new Sumo alright. Still slabsided in front.

Nice work by TATA. But it looks much bigger than current sumo.

Dunno why...maybe its the color as well, but the windows remind me somehow of the Swift.

In any case, I think this one should be considerably safer than the existing SUMO. seems more solidly placed.

Well, the front ( and maybe the interiors too) should be like the Xenon pickup which was scooped here on TBHP by Mad Monkey on 24/10/07:

Am copy-pasting the links to 2 pictures contained in that thread for convenience:

Handsome I think!

And despite the talk of finish, look at the slightly crude fuel cap and a lack of consistency in finish between the rest of the vehicle at the window frames.

Current Sumo is very much on leaf springs. Only the safari uses a coil
