As I keep coming back to the pic, I realise :

1. The Swift looking windows are not a good idea. They somehow take away the presence that a vehicle this size must possess.
2. This colour is definitely not for a vehicle this size.

Picking up on Steeroid's observations on the fit and finish, can we still assume that quality will be definitely several notches higher than the existing SUMO ?

Improvements need to be all - round
1. Ride Quality
2. NVH
3. Stability
4. Interior quality

If not, then it would largely be a wasted exercise for TATA in terms of maturing as a automobile manufacturer.

p.s.
Also, I believe it was reported that the SUMO facelift / design was being worked over by a German firm. Is this the result of that ?

I totally second you on that! Same also for the Innova.
Why must there be a rising skirtline?
I'm a lover of glass area!

Build quality of Tata vehicals is improving with every model and this Sumo should be no exception.

Looks nice compared to the vehicles its gonna compete with.. I have a feeling this is going to eat into the Safari market share as well.

Looks like a SUMO with a better looking bodyshell. The wheelbase looks similar. Loved to see the sparewheel go under. Apart from the fat D pillar, everything else looks quite proper.

Would this new Sumo be based on X1 platform? Looks more sophisticated than the older version although the rear windows are more like cubby holes.

Exactly my thoughts.

The lesser the glass area, the more cramped it looks and lesser visibility.

Great job millionswords!

My obervations:
  1. The improvement in fit and finish is at once noticeable which is what was being claimed.
  2. It looks bigger than the current Sumo and it seems they've increased the rear overhang to achieve that.
  3. The tailgate seems to open upwards like in Qualis/Innova. I think the sideways opening is better when the rearmost seats are sideways facing.
  4. Will they offer 4X4 versions?

Looks nice, but I do not like the rear windows getting smaller and smaller. It ruins the look.

Also hope the engine is more refined than the current ones. Would really like a CRDI engine in a SUMO.

Kudos to Tatas for actually coming out with newer models even while the older one is still selling.

Methinks we're actually getting to a stage wherein manufacturers will have to keep their offerings fresh in light of the increased competition.

Are you sure those are leaf springs in the back??? Besides, if FORD can sell so-called "premium" SUV (Endeavour has leaf springs), why not TATA with Sumo? Infact, TATA havent even branded it as an SUV so far.
