Maybe they are planning to bring it as a CKD to keep the costs down?

maybe slightly off-topic, but what and why the diff in taxes for CBU and CKD.

Between the two will there be any difference in the quality of the final vehicle in any way?

why do manufacturer choose one way over the other?

Thanks,

Is the cost of making a diesel engine more then that of petrol one? What I want to say is that even if Honda (or any other company) is able to make the diesel version at cheaper costs they will never sell it lower to its petrol version. Reason 1: They don't have to, because people are willing to pay more for diesel. Reason 2: Who will buy the petrol one then? )

is honda thinking of launching variants of the CRV.. i dont mean different fuel but like LX VX and EX as it does elsewhere becasue this diesel CRV has the alloy wheels which look very low quality and good enough for an LX variant.

This vehicle is being used by a Honda executive for personal use (as of now).
It resides in Gk-2.

Plus the company engineers use it to test the long term feasibility of a diesel engine fed on our diesel. ( I tried asking the Driver)

This has steel rims & not alloys & if it were not being used for testing, why would the company remove the i-Ctdi sticker from the rear windscreen, after the pics taken by me got published.

Other than the spy pictures, is there any reliable print or verbal hint from Honda India that diesel is considered for the indian market ? Chevy Captiva holds one step ahead just because its diesel. Will Honda launch a diesel CRV just to compete the Captiva ? I dont know any other indian diesel SUV vehicle that comes in direct competition with the CRV in terms of pricing.

Wow...atlast they made up there mind.
I didn't like that price tag though, difference of 4L gandhiji is a little on the higher side.
but I am sure, those who were eagerly waiting wont mind that.

Great pics !! I remember seeing those pictures in a Auto magazine. The same set of pics.
What I fail to understand is what is a Diesel CRV doing outside someone's residence and it also looks registered ??

I am excited for sure, but I am kind of thinking..it CRV will retain its elements with the Diesel engine, any idea, whose engine are they using, also have they strenthened the bay, suspension and the dampening to counter the changes with the diesel engine

I am kind of skeptical, but again my confidence in Honda's quality is higher than of Toyotas

According to DriveInside, the CR-V diesel is likely to hit the market in November 2009 and will be priced around Rs 24 lakh. Can anyone confirm this news?
