Here their strategy will be, launch a car with lower engine. Then bring in a new engine and charge extra
If this happens, then resale values of existing NHCs would get better!

How will this affect the resale of existing NHC ?

I feel that the engine will be degraded by around 3 - 5bhp for India.

It's quite possible that Honda will bring in 1.3l iVTEC as the base and 1.5l iVTEC at the higher end.
1.3l iVTEC is capable of producing enough power similar to the current 1.5l iDSI engine.

The 1.3 ivtec will be down from 100 to lets say 90-92bhp. But it will be more tuned towards fuel effeciency.

From the eye shaped side window profile(including rear quarter glass) , the door handles , it appears to me the picture is more of 2008 Hyundai's Elantra

Known fact is that Hyundai copies Honda!
Can Honda afford to copy a Hyundai??

NHC narrowly missed the excise increase. It makes sense to retain the iDSI or be senseless like stopping the 1.4 Fiesta. Or like someone mentioned, 1.3 ivtec must be around.

85-90bhp should be ideal for our Indian road conditions and should deliver decent FE too. I dont think we are craving for utmost power for Honda to decide to totally scrapping a fuel efficient and cheaper to buy engine.

But if the Jazz has to be positioned well, the NNHC needs to go up the ladder. I think the UK Jazz 1.2 delivers 76 BHP which is in NHC territory.

NHC with idsi in international markets made 88bhp. And it was brought down to 77 here. So the 1.2 will be around 70 bhp.
