(I mean to say that TATA INDIGO has MORE problems then PETRA)
Have you ever sat in an Indigo??? Check out one in reality before mentioning points like Ride, BootSpace, performance on the losing side.

Secondly...please mention the MORE problems of the Tata Indigo that you are talking about.

Lambo, I've driven an Indigo once. Bombay to Pune and back. Long enough to have some impression about the car. Must say this car delivers much more than I had expected.

I do have a problem with this word 'performance'. I've posted this before and I'll continue to think that this the most misused word on the forum.

Hey guys,
I have sat in an indigo and all but there was nothing to go and make me buy car.
I only like its diesel version but i still feel its lacks a certain punch.
Its good for relaxed driveing and all but stilll...
Can someone define OVERRATED please.

And stratos,
Have you ever sat in a petra/ siena...
sit in one and i am sure you will love it more then your petra.
What i meant when i said those was in comparision to the Petra.
I meant to say thatthe petra has a bigger boot, more power etc.
The indigo is a fabulous car and i respect it a lot in diesel form.
I like the boot space, i like the ride amd it is better then others in its class.
its just that the petra has bettered the indigo in these areas.

Please post some sensible and clear reply without using But...Stilll!!
Lambo, you are posting two extreme views in your reply. Sad

Sorry,
I will just change a few things -
Indigo diesel - yes i like it, i wouldnt mind buying this car if i needed one.
Indigo petrol - well when there is a fiat petra, i will not buy it.
Performance and FE need some sorting out.
Oh and stratos, i like the colour of your indigo but are they available in black now because i saw a few and they looked damn sexy.Yours is dark blue right.

for you my friend - the fiat cars will always be underrated. coz i think if u say that - you are a person who buys the car more from the heart rather than the head.

fiat cars do not have abad reputation its the company that has a negative image which is hurting the products !

if fiat can improve their image - the palio and petra will be back where they belong in their respective segments -ON THE TOP.

cheers

They sell even less then Palio and Corsa is a true blue Western European car. Go to GErmany and you will see tons of Corsa's. It used to be like the Santro is here. But even Corsa is losing market share in GErmany like Fiat is losing in Italy. So would you now say that Opel's are over-rated?

Come to think of it, you are right. The Golf can't be compared to the Palio as its way better. But coming back to the title of the thread : are fiat cars overrated? From my interpretation, we are discussing Fiat as a global brand. And for that, as you said it'd be unfiar to compare the Palio to a Golf. So even if we compare the Panda to the Golf, the golf is still a much better car. And the GTI model is simply out of this world. Generally speaking, people in europe are now moving away from Fiat and heading toward VW, Peugeot and even Seat and not without reason. IMO, Fiat are now lagging behind other manufacturers in terms of quality, brand image etc. IMO, Fiat is overrated on the international stage but not in the indian context!

I don't think that Europeans are moving to VW, Peugeot, seat etc. If you look at the annual sales in Europe, you will see that all the companies you mentioned have lost sales and market share. Among compact cars, the company whose sales have zoomed is Kia Motors! I believe their sales rose almost 50% Y on Y. Bmw sales have gone up 12% and the other company whose sales have zoomed is Toyota. Almost 7%. VW, fiat, Peugeot etc have all lost market share.

i don't think we can compare the Panda with the Golf. Correct me if i am wrong but panda is cheaper then Golf. Maybe we can compare Panda with Polo. I, personally, would buy the Polo in that case. In fact, if VW were in India, I would have bought the Golf or Polo over the Palio anyday. Not because fiat is over-rated but because the other cars are better.
