Senior - BHPian | ![]() But I really think this is rather pointless, from what I've heard, throttle response is much much better in Petra, the engine feels more eager to launch forward than the comparitively coarse egnine in the Viva. In the end, its driving pleasure that matters, isnt it? |

Senior - BHPian | ![]() Guys, don't get fooled by the 102bhp claimed for the Accent. It maybe producing 102bhp at the crank but, by the time that power reaches the wheels i'm sure it must be down by atleats 10+ bhp for if you look at the accelelration figures, it performs slightly better than a 77bhp car which is equally heavy. The Petra no doubt has much better performance (relatively that is). Having a powerful engine is one thing but, being able to transfer that to the wheels without much loss is another and this is where the Accent loses out. Shan2nu |

Distinguished - BHPian ![]() | ![]() Here are the figures from ACI Petra - 1100kg 0 - 60 = 4.83s 0 - 100 = 11.82s top speed = 189kmph torque = 14 kgm Accent 1.6 - 1038kg 0 - 60 = 5.2s 0 - 100 = 12.34s top speed = 185 torque = 14.4 kgm In comparision - corsa 1.6 - 1040kg 0 - 60 = 4.89s 0 - 100 = 12.2s top speed = 170kmph torque = 12.2 kgm And this car produces 92BHP and is faster in the performances dashes as compared to hyundai 103 BHP car. Looks like hyundai has lied in its torque figures too. Last edited by lamborghini : 23rd March 2005 at 11:19. |

| ![]() Thanks Lambo. I actually did not expect a Corsa to out-drag the Accent. That is strange. Some problem with the Accent's transmission? |

| ![]() For those who wonder about the Accent's acceleration figures - it has a throttle lag. Takes about .5 seconds for it to respond... However, in-gear acceleration is excellent and is better than most other cars. The Accent will NOT beat any of the other cars in 0-60 figures - its on the highway that it comes to its own - 60 kmph and above. Compare the roll-on figures for all cars in the class and you'll find that its true. However, that is not the point here - lets try and get back to the topic, shall we? This topic is not about engines - its about cars, Fiat in particular. For Rahulmd: Hype (Transitive Verb) = 1. Put On, Deceive 2. Promote or publicize extravagantly Hype (Noun) = PUBLICITY; especially promotional publicity of an extravagant or contrived kind Cheers Steer |
