Can it beat scorpio in road presence?
Can it beat scorpio in maintanence costs?
Can it beat scorpio in practicality?

even after paying 1.5 times the cost of Scorpio.
Yes it would surely be an improvement on
1)Passenger Comfort
2)Handling
3)Features
4)Looks (for few)
5)Power
Lets wait for the numbers to be out.
Though its too early to comment, the new Mahindra SUV is told to have a monocoque chassis and a front wheel drive layout so do not expect it to match a Scorpio for ruggedness, but expect it to have a much more comfortable car like Ride due to low COG and monocoque chassis.

I hope this SUV does not look as ugly as the Xylo, this vehicle is expected to carry over the Dental defects from its siblings.

simply can't wait for this one.
seems its got everything what Scorpio lacks and what made me go for a Safari Dicor this January, instead of a Scorpio. waiting eagerly, will definitely purchase one.

Hey people i saw many vehicles from mahindra on mysore..
1> Xylo pickup
2> Xylo 4wd
3> W210(codename)
4> Scorpio facelift
5> Some kind of hatchback vehicle.

The w210 was a completely built vehicle with day time running lights, projectors etc. This was white in color.
And the car shown in the first page of the thread was also seen there.

Was the Xylo 4wd pink?

Add a bolero and a bolero pick up to that list. Also something that resembles the Ace.

It may be off topic, but I saw 2 Ssangyong SUV's in Taloja bearing red plates. One was Rexton and another ugly one!

hey even i spotted an utterly ugly looking MUV @ TALOJA NAKA. Had a wierd bulging glass on rear hatch. like having a ritz rear glass bulging out further by a foot and a quarter. had a very weak nose and whole damn contraption was rounded at all corners and was large in size.
was white in color and due to traffic i just couldnt fig out the manufacturer's logo.
was a real oddball though.

you have put it so nicely. my thoughts exactly about mahindra nose grills.
isnt it so much cleaner to have a horizontal element to make a tall form look less vertical.
I mean thats basic design man.

If the vehicle meets most of the other requirements like performance, reliability, pricing etc, then overcoming the toothy grille is going to be a cakewalk. Take out the stock grill, put in a plain mesh grill and you will actually have a nice, mean looking machine that will hopefully perform just as good as it looks.

If you arent convinced, then checkout the other threads like Jose's Bolero modifications where he has taken out that trademark M&M grille and put in a simple mesh grille.

The bumper will be a little more difficult to camouflage, though.

Thats the sad thing really. we have 2 indian manufacturers who are good at different aspects of the same industry.
M & M definitely have the better performing engines , way higher reliability Tatas have better ride quality and handling , space , spares cost and availabilty and in most cases better basic designing.
Xylo's problem if it can be called one, is INMHO definitely more than just a bad nose. It looks like they started with a wheel base first , then the seating attangement and finely came to using various square , concave , convex sheet metal forms to form the outer shell. They threw in a good measures of chamfers , triangales and circles to finish the ensemble.
Sad if you ask me as i would ve' rather fancied the thing with some serious straighter lines and devoid of the uncalled for curves and side glass tringles.
With its price , performance , reliability , space and and A lowered CG and more eurpoean form , it would really be a mean tough machine.

No more news about this SUV?

By the way I had made this rendering sometime back.
I think this how the overall car would look.

I feel this is one of the best looking Mahindra vehicle.
I do like the Scorpio but only in a modified state.

Going By Patterns alone, My prediction for the ETA for the W201 - Q1 2011.
Looks like it is in the final stages of testing , and the vehicle looks rather good.
but 16 lacs for it is questionable.

P.S loved the meaty alloy design
