Isn't the Velfire and Land Crusider imported products from Toyota? I don't think both cars are made locally. Do correct if the information is incorrect.

Toyota could've atleast taken an opportunity to introduce JDM cars in India. But again it would backfire thanks to restrictions against modifications and also speed limits.

Cars having engine size smaller than 2500cc and price less than US$40,000 have to be homologated. The 2500/year import quota allows companies to import such cars without homologation. So the Landcruiser doesn't come under the quota, but the Vellfire may as it has a engine capacity below 2500cc eventhough it already costs greater than US$40,000 before import duties. Toyota can easily import models like the Corolla GR within the quota as it would have been hard to import and sell otherwise.

Perfect example for the proper usage of the import quota would be the VW T-roc and Skoda Kamiq. CBUs for 21-25 lakhs just a couple of years ago? Unthinkable now.

The Vellfire is already a JDM model being sold here. About modifications and speed limits. Even if it has a fire spitting exhaust, if it is factory standard then the authorities can't do anything. Also I believe even CBUs sold in India have the 120kmh beep now.

Re: Toyota's future plans for India

Toyota Kirloskar Motor to expand plant output by 20-30%, add third shift from May 2023.

-With an order book of over 120,000 units at end-March 2023 and growing demand for its cars and SUVs, Toyota targets production of over 320,000 units in FY2024.

- Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM), which produced 166,690 cars and SUVs and sold 173,245 units in FY2023, is to expand its manufacturing plant output by a minimum of 20-30 percent.

- Production is likely to double to over 320,000 units in the current financial year, making it the highest ever output for the company.

- has an order book of over 120,000 units, its highest ever to date since its market entry in 1997, is likely to deliver its highest ever annual output and sales in FY2024.

- TKM will be adding a third shift at its Bidadi factory on the outskirts of Bengaluru. This will help increase its Innova, Fortuner and Hycross production capacity from 380 units per day to 510 units per day and augment its cumulative capacity in India from 320,000 to 400,000 units per annum.

-With the waiting period ranging from three months to 18 months in some cases, the company was recently compelled to halt bookings for the top-end variant of the new Innova HyCross.

- Sustained demand for all its models with the Innova family (Crysta and HyCross) for which cumulative bookings have are between 60,000 to 70,000 units at end-March 2023.

-The expansion in capacity is also necessitated by a strong order book of Maruti Suzuki’s Grand Vitara, which is being produced at the Bidadi factory. At the end of FY2023, Maruti Suzuki had a booking of 140,000 units for the midsize SUV which has a waiting period of 3-6 months.

-Toyota Kirloskar Motor ended FY2023 with sales of 173,245 units and a passenger vehicle market share of 4.45%, which has moved up by 40 basis points.

-TKM is likely to get an SUV based on the Maruti Suzuki Fronx and Ertiga MPV, which will help further expand its vehicle portfolio while offering offer the Innova HyCross to Maruti Suzuki in return.

Re: Toyota's future plans for India

Now that Toyota’s plant would operate at good utilisation and assured volumes settle, I think Toyota can start bringing in some more platforms going ahead. Id love for them to bring in the RAV-4, Yaris

Re: Toyota's future plans for India

Toyota lines up two MPVs, one SUV for India launch this year.

Two of these will be supplied by Maruti, while one will be a CBU import.

1.Toyota Rumion launching in August ( Ertiga clone)

Quote:
Compared to the Ertiga, the Rumion will have a few styling changes to its plastic parts. It will get an all-new bumper with revised fog lamp surrounds, an Innova Crysta-like grille, and new alloy wheels. On the inside, it will have a blacked-out dashboard contrasted with wood-like inserts; the upholstery is also expected to be finished in black.
2. Next-gen Toyota Vellfire expected in September.

Quote:
it's expected to be offered with a 2.5-litre, four-cylinder petrol-hybrid powertrain that has a combined power output of 250hp, and comes mated to an e-CVT transmission. Internationally, there’s also a 279hp, 2.4-litre petrol engine that comes mated to a CVT gearbox.
3. Toyota’s version of Maruti Fronx expected by Diwali.

Quote:
badge-engineered model from Maruti Suzuki, but one that will crucially give Toyota a sub-4m crossover – a space that has been left vacant since the Urban Cruiser was discontinued. It’s expected to launch around the festive season, but expect the changes on the Toyota version to be minimal and only cosmetic, just like the Baleno-Glanza or Hycross-Invicto.

Re: Toyota's future plans for India

Toyota Kirloskar FY23 profits jump 2.7X to a record Rs 1404 crore.

The company has posted its highest ever volumes, revenues, and profit margin since its inception 25 years ago and it is on track to produce over 3 lakh units in FY24.

Quote:
Toyota Kirloskar Motor recorded a profit of Rs 1404 crore for FY23, which is almost 2.7 times higher than the Rs 518 crore profits it registered in FY22. The revenues for the last financial year grew 72 percent to Rs 34,021 crore. The company had a net profit margin of 4.13 percent again the highest ever by the company.

Fortuner continued to be the leader in its segment across the country. Toyota’s global model Hycross (CMPV) was introduced in the Indian market with Strong Hybrid technology and other advanced features like connected cars, ADAS (TSS) etc. were well received with a positive response from customers and the market at large.

The company is preparing to provide the first Cross badge model of CMPV to its alliance partner in the year 2023.

With both Hycross and Hyryder with strong hybrid technology, Toyota Kirloskar believes it could popularize hybrid technology and work towards mass electrification.

Towards meeting national objectives, your Company is studying the introduction of Flex Fuel technology (Ethanol) in India. The Company will continue to provide an “Awesome” experience to customers through technologically advanced products and further improve its products, processes and services by participation of its employees, dealers and suppliers.

The demand for Toyota Kirloskar models remains very strong and it has an order backlog of over 1 lakh vehicles with a majority of its production for FY24 also almost sold out.

Not surprisingly, the company has decided to add a third shift and is planning to increase its output by 30% during the year, which will take the total capacity to close to about 4 lakh units per annum.
Toyota Kirloskar is likely to produce over 3 lakh units – its highest ever output in the country. The plant in Bidadi caters to both Toyota and Suzuki buyers in India and globally.

Re: Toyota's future plans for India

Toyota announces third manufacturing plant in India.

First model from new plant to roll out in 2026.

Quote:
Toyota to invest around Rs 3,300 crore for new plant
Will be the production base of an all-new three-row SUV
To have a production capacity of 1 lakh units per annum
Quote:
Toyota has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the government of Karnataka to set up a third manufacturing plant in India, which would increase its production capacity by 1 lakh units per annum. The upcoming plant will also be situated at Bidadi near Bangalore – near the existing two –and will attract an investment of around Rs 3,300 crores. It will also generate about 2,000 new jobs
Quote:
The Corolla Cross-based SUV for India will be underpinned by Toyota’s TNGA-C platform, which is also used by the Innova Hycross. Globally, the Corolla Cross has a wheelbase of 2,640mm, but the India-spec version will likely be lengthened by about 150mm, enough to add a third row of seats.
With both the existing plants reaching full utilization in the country, the need for the new plant also arises as TKM has seen a robust volume increase for its models over the past year and certain models are on a waiting period extending even up to one year. Link

Re: Toyota's future plans for India

Toyota to launch 3 new SUVs in the next 18 months.

Toyota’s version of the Fronx, the three-row Hyryder and a Corolla Cross-based SUV for India are being readied.

- Hyryder-based three-row SUV launch expected in 2025
- Corolla Cross-based SUV launch also expected in 2025

Three Row Hyryder:

The sister car to the Grand Vitara Plus, will be built and supplied to Toyota by Maruti.
Will rival Hyundai's Alcarzar, Mahindra's XUV700 and Tata's Safari. In its product portfolio it will sit along the Hycross.

Toyota Corolla Cross expected by 2025:

Toyota is readying another SUV for a 2025 launch, which will be built at its new facility. This new SUV will be based on the Corolla Cross SUV sold overseas, will sit on the popular TNGA-C platform shared with the Innova Hycross, and hence, be positioned above the three-row Hyryder.

Toyota's Taisor based on Fronx will arrive sometime later in 2024.

Then it means the next Gen Fortuner will either be launched in last quarter of 2025 or early 2026.
