Thanks for the lovely Pictures GTO\Rehaan.

Thats one hell of a car I feel. I believe that even a price tag of 6 - 6.5 lakh for a petrol car will make this a hot hatch in the segment. Hope they role out the Polo with 1.6 Ltr engine soon

Cheers to VW.

^ It will be the 3 cylinder 1.2L engine of the Fabia, but with modified configuration.

I love this car, but the rear lights spoiled the party. Any idea when bookings are open and price details?

A stupid question - Why are all the Polo cars on display having low profile tyres? Are these really india-spec cars? Or euro-spec ones flown down for the expo specifically?

Aah! Finally a car with an engine option that would entice an enthusiast.
This will be only the 2nd hatch post the venerable Palio 1.6 to offer 100+BHP.

I hope VW prices it sensibly.

that will have to be confirmed. as what i have heard is the unit is totally different from the fabia pot.

anyways the 1.6 will be a scorcher, lets hope they don't scorch the price too.

cheers,
ac

The rear is a bit bland, in what is an otherwise under stated, muscular, clean cut design. A good pair of aftermarket clear lens tail lights would do the trick!

BTW the reverse gear is in place of the regular 1st of most cars.Hope it has a reverse gear lock or something.
All VW cars comes with similar gear sequence. To engage one needs to push it down and then slot into reverse. Same with skoda, audi et al.

Today's Hindu reported that Polo will be priced like Jazz, i20 or Fabia (The Hindu : Business : Honda, Toyota unveil small cars). I do not get anything out of it as this is a large price range somewhere from 5L to 8L. If they price like the Jazz, this is a sure failure.

(or, never, in reality)

edit: ok, ok; make that nine days for the 1.6, which does 0-100 in >11 seconds.

The Volkswagen India site talks about 1.6L Petrol engine for Polo. Is that everybody's understanding? I see some confusion on that front

Also, any ideas on pricing for Polo and availability date?

Thanks

VW Polo Details

According to the VW india website , the Polo comes in three versions -

1.2 Petrol - 75PS
1.6 Petrol - 105 PS
1.2 Diesel - Featuring Volkswagen’s latest common rail technology

All in 5 speed manual transmission. There will be three variants namely -
Trendline
Comfortline
Highline

I called up a dealer in Bangalore and they informed me that one can make bookings with RS.10000 token amount for 1.2 petrol and diesel. The petrol is scheduled to be delivered from March and the diesel from May, still tentative it might be earlier than this also.
They have not yet received the prices but from sources I heard it would in the range of 4.5 - 7 Lakhs range ex-showroom.

I wish this car was launched atleast couple of months back. Wonder how VW could come up with such a low price, given their brand name and the quality of cars they produce.
