re: The great Indian Car Magazine War

ACI seems to be the best. I've been with the guys since 2002 and there is no other mag like it in the market. Some issues remain like the buyer's guide which is not regularly updated. Most commendable are their scoops! How does Hormazd manage to get them?

Been subscribing to Top Gear for 5 years for their style is more inclined towards lifestyle like the TG show.

ACI is no way comparable to the old Auto India ,but still thats what I like reading these days . Now that bus travel is getting faster and sophisticated ,am sure many of us would love to read something on this once in a while
Where is Yogendra Pratap now? When did he leave Overdrive?

BSM is my current favorite. Their writing style is highly passionate and witty. ACI are the most professional.

I liked Quarter-mile alot, just read one issue though but I love the content. It's a good side read with any auto magazine

A mech in Saputara modifies Kinetic Hondas and makes them look like Pulsars / Harleys / SBKs etc. I have seen his creations. My elder brother has ridden them. He rents these bikes out for joyrides for a princely sum of Rs. 30 / short ride.

re: The great Indian Car Magazine War

Used to buy Autocar regularly till a couple of years ago. For me Team-BHP gives all the dope I need and more on cars. And money saved.
I came across a mag called Zigwheels sometime ago - I think the launch copy was Rs.10 or something. I see their link on TOI website. Any idea how good it is?

re: The great Indian Car Magazine War

I was searching for this thread too! I started with overdrive and now settled with Auto-car. What i like about the Autocar

1) Professional
2) Scoops (Compared to lot of others who seem to be hobnobbing with top bosses, Hormazd does it in style by laying low)
3) Specialities like: What to expect next year? etc
4) The Last page pictures (While recent quality seems to be dipping but i love the interesting pics)

However now after being on Team-BHP, i feel that the magazine is redundant.

Autocar stands tall among others and which is why I have been an avid Autocar fan since its inception in India. Congrats the Autocar team. Some other mags though started well, faded out later on.

re: The great Indian Car Magazine War

I have subscribed to Autocar and Top Gear. For me, both magazines are completely different, yet equally good.
I like Autocar's no-nonsense kind of road tests, crisp photos, interesting news etc.
Top Gear is more brash and fun. Always in 'tongue in cheek' mode. And the overseas drives / photos are breath taking.
