Looks like VW made some changes in AC and steering mounted controls in petrol manual Passat.

It seems that even the vw people are not sure what engine are they plonking in the passat! i always thought it to be 1.8 tsi - a turbo petrol but it seems their marketing team seem to know better as their website shows they offer a supercharger alongwith turbocharger in a tsi, that should have been tfsi. they should better make correction.OR am i missing something here.

VW group engines with only the turbocharger + stratified fuel injection technology are known as TFSI.

Engines with Turbocharger + Supercharger = TSI. This is what exists in the Laura and now in the Passat too.

Only the 1.4L TFSI engine has a turbocharger and supercharger.

The 1.8TSI and the 2.0TSI both have only a turbocharger and No supercharger.

VW and Skoda call it the TSI whereas Audi call it as TFSI.

Turbocharged fuel stratified injection. Stratified injection meaning direct injection technology.

The fuel is sprayed directly into the combustion chamber rather than the air fuel mixture entering and getting ignited.

I saw that Cruise control is mentioned as a feature in the Passat 1.8 TSI.
Maybe a dumb question - but can someone help to understand how cruise control works with manual transmission?

It just controls the throttle to maintain a constant speed. It is also available in Civic MT and probably also Scorpio MT.

Monitors speed and feeds fuel accordingly. However. climbing a hill or an incline will be slow and a struggle. I was experiementing in 5th going up from an underpass and my EPC light came on since the fuel mixture became too rich due to the the strain .

In an auto box, the car merely downshifts so mixture is at the optimum

i am still not very clear on the fact if tsi has a supercharger or not.

the pic no.1 looks amazing, the quality and feel is just outstanding.

the passat which challenged the accord and superb just saw merc come on it tail.

I think the competition just got nastier (good for us)
