Will the Accord's sales will be affected heavily now, as the Passat has way more features than Accord and its priced so competitively.

Was at the VW Press con today. Spent some time with the new Pasat. Excellent transmission, fantastic build quality and shift action!

It's hard to believe how competitive the VW Group has gotten. First they launch the Superb that revolutionizes the Accords market and steals most of it. Now, they launch the Passat with a 6 speed tranny to further improve on the Superb's fuel efficiency and performance numbers.

Anyone who doubts the VW groups intentions for India just got a tasty dose of reality!

While the 2.0L TDI-CR in Passat is tuned for 140PS, the one in Jetta is tuned only for 110PS. On the brighter side look at the torque - the peak torque arrives at a low 1500 rpm; this should keep turbo lag minimal.

When is the test drive vehicle expected at the dealerships? Should compare the PD with the CR engines and check the difference.

Onething is good that they launched the Passat petrol TSI with manual transmission, which might add some fun to the driving. But, I suppose they decided to launch it with manual instead of the 7speed DSG gearbox that comes with the Superb could be due to the issue the Superb has been facing with the auto transmission. And surely VW would not want it's image to get hampered with such matters.

VW Passat prices slashed by almost 5 Lacs - Who's buying it?

VW has just lowered the prices of Passat and it's available for less than 20 Lacs Ex. Showroom. Honda Accord and Toyota Camry surely will be face the heat surely and also Skoda Superb to some extent.

The question is will VW turn tables on others in this segment and will emerge as a clear leader in this category?

Well I will be buying a new car soon and I was almost about to book the Cruze the coming week, but the launch of the Passat has made me rethink my decision

The 1.8 TSI is a gem, the interiors are top class, the features and equipment list is very extensive. The quality and build is way better than the Cruze and possibly even better than the Superb.

I am not and was not interested in the Superb because of the Skoda A** and the the huge dimensions. Ok, the passat is huge too but it doesn't feel like its too big.

So I may very well be buying the Passat.

Hope to test drive the car soon and if all goes well, book the car ASAP.

VW launched its passat 1.8 TSI manual yesterday at 19,20,000 ex-showroom Delhi. The 2.0 TDI CR DSG has been discontinued, this model was priced at 24,20,000 ex-showroom Delhi.

As far as turning tables is concerned, before that lets see if VW's reliability issues with electricals have been overcome or not.

Maybe the lowering of prices also has to do with the foreign currency fluctuations. Euro - VWs home currency - has been falling over the last quarter against Rupee.

I think the cost may be reduced because of BS4 Norms. But I think currently there is no source of this information. Someone please give the source of information.

Well for one, I would not be dethered by this change, cause in front of the Accord, I dont see any match.

Vis-a-vis the Superb or especially the Camry, then I may consider the Passat.

But then again, maybe cause I am a Honda fan
