That's a big scoop. This is not the 2010, but the all new next generation Safari. The wheels are a dead giveaway. Looks bigger and wider than the current Safari too. This should replace the current gen once it reaches the end of its life cycle.

Seems like they have retained the overall Size/dimensions of the current safari. They also seem to have retained the looks looking at the bonnet and the rear along with the side profile. Maybe its been subjected to some fancy body mods such as headlamps, grille, bumpers and such. Maybe the major changes are under the bonnet.

Arent these pics already put up in the Tata Safari/Indicruz thread which was locked when the Aria was released?

Also, i think this is the same shell, and the vehicle has just been given a facelift, with the spare wheel tucked under.

Yes, but that thread was more of indicruz (Aria) thread.
Notable differences for this one
1. Look at the headlamps, they look slightly curved(endeavor like?)
2. Spare wheel is no longer on the tail gate
3. It looks wider!
4. Are those 17inch wheels? Looks like that from they way they fill the wheel arches.

The question. When is the launch! At the Expo, Tata displayed the 2010 safari which just sported a E-IV engine(intercooled EGR) and lots of chrome.
However this one looks like a totally new beast!

The front looks more boxy. May be styling cues from Land Rover. But the vehicle looks a bit taller and wider as well. Seeing Aria, the next generation Safari can only get better.

When is the scheduled launch.

These pictures was posted in the other thread and there was reports from Tata insiders that it is a major revision/update as opposed to an all new platform. Basic body will be the same. This will be more like the *Mighty Musclar* Safari.

This is definetely the next generation Safari (2011?) built on the same platform as the Aria. Even though this mule does not have alloys (rather it has Grande Mk II style steel wheel which is cleverly masked to look like an alloy), from the over al size perspective, it looks like the same platform.

It even has the dual exhaust outlet like the Aria. Looks like Tata is going the Acura way of making this into a Tata style statement. This is the first I have seen of a 4 pot engine with this sort of a dual exhaust though.

Hopefully Tata will not go too upscale in the pricing of the Aria and Safari II though. Fingers crossed.

And its got dual tone color too like the Scorpio! And the tail lamps seems to be the same as the current Safari.

+1 to that. A look at the pics clarifies that the tail lamps, the headlights to a great extent and the rear glass look almost the same. Also, the wheel size doesn't seem to have been upgraded, so all in all, this would be another "Refreshed" version of the existing Safari with the same 2.2 engine and mechanicals.

old pictures already shared in some thread earlier.

As 4x4 addict has said, more of Mighty Muscular like changes in the safari with the spare tyre going below the body and other changes including headlights.

Wonder how long will they test it !!

Hope they have enough sense not to put a tear shaped headlight on this one. That single obsession is screwing up their designs, if they havent noticed yet. (sigh)

Any information about the engine specification?
It seems tome just the cosmetic change. Same heart with new body.

May be with some improve fit and finish mainly plastics. Like ARIYA.

Please TATA do something for your QC. We can leave with those plastics...but want a stable, reliable work horse.

you have bought JLR..can you please... please...learn from them mainly about QC.
Or another option is there just start all the TATA vechile QC check with JLR QC division only.(No Offence, My opinion only)

The number plate at front/rear is a bit up. Looks its 16 inchers but like what they did to Aria, it might get 17 when they launch it
