I don't know if the power steering will be offered in India or not...the PS vehicle is being tested is the "Nano Europa"...It will be offered in all probabilities IMO.

I have driven our company's Non-PS vehicle extensively and I really feel this upgrade was necessary. I really hope that this improves the sales of the vehicle. It sure deserves a lot more.
Are there any changes apart from the PS, for ex. a openable rear hatch?
Also, isn't the Europa supposed to have a more powerful engine?

Please tell me what are the options available to you for 1.79L Ex-Showroom ( I'm not considering OTR as taxes vary drastically from 4% to 14% across states) which has 2 power windows, awesome A/C, amazing leg room, head room and space.
+1 to that. In addition it is like what they used to say about Ambassador cars - you walk in and walk out of the car. Nano has that kind of ease in egress.

Improvements/additions are always welcomed .
The only question is 'at what price difference'?

Insiders, any idea if Tata is working on diesel Nano?

We want nano Europa. It looks way better than the current nano and will definitely gather more takers.

Others feels that its worth at that price buy it, taste differes from person to person. But if i am investing so much sure i want Tata to eliminate these foolish mistakes and issues in this car.
Bajaj auto with 173.5 CC engine with out even the roof top cover cost 1.7 Lakhs.

Maruti 800cc costs 2.5 lakhs with out front power windows.

Yes the nano europa is slated to have a 1litre engine. The vehicle which was tested for PS was the present one with just the PS attached. So I couldn't see the openable boot door. Its still a mystery.

These upgrades are long due!! Welcome measure from TML! Now all that is missing a diesel engine

I know the pain of not having a PS. I own a 800 and my cousin owns a i10. I have driven them both extensively. Its like two diametrically opposite ends of 'steering feel'

What I really want on the Nano before I would consider buying it is disc brakes in front! The lack of it is a deal-breaker for me!

I don't understand this obsession with Diesel Engine!

A diesel variant will cost more by atleast 50-60k and will require more maintenance. The end result Rs./Km is not going to be much different.

@Jyobeb: Please drive one and see. Its not bad at all in its present config.

No offence to any one and i am not Tata Nano hater but after driving her for 15 days what i can say is any day i'll preffer to buy a 2nd hand 800 or alto as a 2nd car rather then Nano, and any Maruti engine lasts easily over 150k kms before any major overhaul, match that engine life, smoothness, service network, cheap spares, again its upto the buyers what they are looking for, mods please delete all my prevoius post as looks like people took those negative point of this car as offence over here.

Please go and buy any car that you want. No one here would really bother you. The only thing we would expect is that you make any new points if you have any rather than stating the same things over and over again. Another point is that no one here is obliged to agree with you

I think Tata missed a great opportunity by not offering the power steering in the first place, when women folk were one of its target customers. But seeing the turn around of the Indica with its V2 version, I sure the Nano will make a comeback.

@MileCruncher : My dad owns one! Its a very good vehicle IF you keep in mind the price you paid and its capabilities. If Alto is better than it demands more than 1.5 times the price. Its a car for a common man who dreams to own a car of his own, for him coughing up 75k more may not be easy.

Especially as a second car, it suits very well.

re: Nano Upgrade coming soon. *UPDATE* Launched! Details on Page 12

Power Streering is a great news. They should also have the rear opening (What happend to the rear glass opening that was planned?). The rear glass opening, can give the boot experience. The Tata logo in the front can act as fuel lid, but i believe the original reason behind - apart from cost cutting is safety, as bonnet is desgined to collide safely during the impact.

We want Europa model, and start exporting it to abroad, where it has potential buyers.
