My first scoop here!
Spotted the facelifted corolla on mysore road.The blue one is a 6 speed manual and the red one is a automatic.Both had 6 CD changer.Due to the glare from windows the camera could not focus properly.The rear leg space is huge.But the camera just could not focus the rear bench due to the heavy glare..Enjoy.

Any news as to when it is being launched ? I spoke to couple of Toyota dealers in New Delhi but nobody was able to give any idea about this launch.Any idea ? Thanks.

Production likely to start this month end. They might build up the stock. So may be june mid-june end.

So from the pix it appears that the Top end Manual gets a Touchscreen sound system and the Auto gets the regular Push Button one. Possibly done to keep the Auto Price realistic.

I would love to see airbags and steering mount controls ( with blue tooth for mobile) in the base versions.

Those are significant changes. I heard there would be only cosmetic changes. 7 speed auto box and 2ZR-FFE engine with dual VVT is a big step forward. I wonder how Toyota would price the car. 16+ for the current Altis V is already on the higher side.

What i understand from my source in toyota. The older Engine & transmission manufacturing has been stopped in Thailand from where Toyota sources their engines & transmission. Currently only new engines & transmissions are being manufactured.

IMO the new Corolla's petrol mill is tuned for more power & better driveability as compared to the outgoing model. Then there is the CVT gearbox which is better than the old autobox. The power is now 138 bhp & torque is 172 Nm (almost 5% up from the previous motor).

Even the bumper is redesigned for beter aerodynamics.

Poor diesel looses out on engine upgrades (guess Toyota honchos assuming that it is too young & adequate for the market).

Any idea if the facelifted version retain the hideous looking fake wood on the dash , or they have replaced it with something more classy?

They have replaced it with dark wood and matte finish. The top part of the dash is now black instead of grey. Looking way more classy than the old one.

Thanks Vid. Thats good indeed. I remember that they had already got rid of the glossy wood finish in other markets, but somehow retained it in India. And getting the 7-speed auto is a great positive move.

ACI June issue quotes a 0-100 timing of 9.5 sec for manual petrol and 11.26 for CVT petrol. DVD player touch screen and rear parking sensors added.
