Looks great, but it's useless if no one wants to drop nearly 50 big ones on a car smaller than a Superb.

I hear you but the fact of the matter is the Superb will always have its own customer base while the C will have its own. Despite that price and size difference. :-)

In days gone by the Superb was the stepping stone up to the big German trio.. That just becomes a larger gap now that the price difference is more than 20L :-(

In fact, for 50L I could have 2 Superbs

The tri-star is already facing a stiff competition from two other Germans; keeping C at this price point will surely reduce footfall as others are offering compelling choices on this side of 50L (OTR).

Merc decision makers must have taken note of the Indian market and the present business conditions before making the pricing decision for C class !

Good luck

But then you have cars like A3, A class, 1 series and maybe CLA which are not that big a step up from the superb. It's more like 5-10 lakh than 20 lakh for these models.

From the OD review, it seems the new C is also without a spare wheel and just gets a space saver eating into boot space. I really dislike this trend in premium cars where we're losing out on the 5th wheel.

Also means if you want to buy the big 3 and want five wheels you're forced to go one segment higher. :-(

Or of course pick that stonking new next gen Passat. :-)
