Suzuki Vitara tested in Brazil- A cut above the rest!

Competes with Jeep Renegade, Honda HR-V, Nissan Kicks and Hyundai Crete, among others.

Under the discreet design of the SUV, hides almost a hot hatch

Version tested is the top 4Sport - 2WD.

the efficient 1.4 turbo engine (BoosterJet) with gasoline direct injection, to 146 horsepower and torque kgfm 23.5 since 1,700 rpm, connected to six-speed automatic transmission. We tested the version with only front wheel drive, but there are 4 x 4 option, another differentiator of the Vitara.

Results:

Using the Vitara in the daily commute, had already noticed a fast car. But when it arrived the performance numbers on the track, we are surprised even more. With the data at hand, the Vitara has left all direct competitors eating dust

For example, the 8.5 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km/h make the Chevrolet Tracker 1.4 turbo back (9.3). This number to hit even the Chevrolet Cruze Sport6 1.4 turbo (8.7) and the VW Golf 1.4 TSI (8.6).

In braking, it got even more serious. The 37.5 meters of 100 km/h to 0 shows that if we thought the Hyundai Crete (39.7 m) the reference, things have changed after this Japanese.

In short, if we were in our Super-comparison of SUVs, this would take all the points of performance.

Same surprise in fuel efficiency:

The same surprise appeared in numbers. Drinking gasoline only (it is not flex), we have no way to compare the consumption of the Vitara with direct competitors, which have been tested with ethanol, however the 13.5 km/l in town and 17.6 km/l on the road are trademarks of respect and that outweigh the small 47 litres tank-resulting in a nearly 635 km urban autonomy, and in addition to the road 820 km.

Suzuki's Vitara encashes on the CUV boom in Europe. Grows the fastest in the segment.

Small SUV sales forecast to top 2 million next year.

The segment's volume rose 17 percent to more than 1.4 million sales last year.

The surge was led by the Renault Captur and Peugeot 2008 and further propelled by strong year-on-year gains for the Fiat 500X, Suzuki Vitara, Ford EcoSport and Jeep Renegade.

Despite its small size, the rugged Suzuki Vitara boasts a very spacious interior and is one of the more affordable crossovers on the market (it’s also cheap to run). The ride and handling are a huge upgrade on the Grand Vitara, plus it also manages off road terrain with ease.

2018 Suzuki Vitara spied on test . Likley to drop the 1.6 NA petrol engine replaced by the 1.0l boosterjet engine.

camouflage suggests cosmetic updates will be extensive. We're looking for a new bumper, lower grille and surrounds for the fog lights.
as the 2018 Vitara prototype sports brand new headlights, while the headlights are obviously the old ones. They appear to be going for a more three-dimensional look to give it a modern touch.

The wheel well space (lack of it) makes it look more like a lowered SUV or a hatch. They could put some space there which will also help its height and look more of an SUV. Put 4x4 hardware and give us a affordable off-roader with added advantage of a Maruti.

For the off roader Suzuki is fast tracking the Jimny / Gypsy for an early 2018 release in Japan. The VITARA which is doing good in markets like EU will still be a CUV with mild off-roading characteristics.

Suzuki's best seller in Europe is ready for its face-lift launch. Seen winter testing in Scandinavia.

Likely to have more safety features apart from some cosmetic tweaks.

For 2019, the front end will feature a new bumper with tweaked grille and fog lights. We also see a radar scanner installed right in front of the radiator, meaning the Vitara will have auto emergency braking and maybe even adaptive cruise control.

But it's also possible that the base naturally-aspirated 1.6-liter will be downsized to a 1-liter, thus competing with the Ford EcoSport.

As part of the mid-life facelift, the Vitara will also receive interior changes with better seat trim.
