The 4-wheel-drive prototype is fully disguised and has many components that are only temporary, like the headlights or the grille.
Although it's heavily concealed by camouflage, we believe the New SUV's design will be heavily influenced by recent Suzuki concept
The dimensions of the SUV will likely remain pretty much unchanged from the current generation. It will measure 4.5 meters from bumper to bumper and stand 1.7 meters tall. About 100 kg of weight should be cut from the mass, by using more advanced fabrication methods.

The new Grand Vitara is at least another year away from going into production, although another preview concept could be shown this year

re: Next-generation Suzuki Vitara caught. EDIT: Now launched in Europe

Wow!! Nice scoop. But it no way looks like a Compact SUV. Or am i wrong? It looks more elongated than the current one.

It seems shorter than the current one + Some curves. New front grille looks damn good.
And not the last, Maruti give us a 2 liter Diesel. Not that guzzling 2.4 Petrol. 1.6 Turbo charged should be fine?

re: Next-generation Suzuki Vitara caught. EDIT: Now launched in Europe

Elongated or Shorter than the current one! Which is it?

Yes the previous engine is a bit of guzzler but then where would Suzuki get the desired diesel from? Have they tied up with any supplier apart from Fiat, from whom it is rumoured that they might be getting/might have got the 1.6 MJD for the new sedan being readied for launch.

A 1.6 turbo petrol would be good too but then again from where? Though this would easier to do for Suzuki compared to the diesel, maybe they might have one already in their arsenal.

BTW, are Suzuki even thinking about bringing this to our shores?

Must say suzuki has Camouflaged it really well. Not able to make out much from the pictures. Guess they have also gone in for the "no spare tyre on the back door" look.Though I really liked that look specially in the earlier Grand Vitara or the ecosport/dicor.

Shape looks something like XUV or Santafe.

Don't know if I am right, correct me if I am wrong. There is a similarity with the Suzuki iv4 concept, which Maruti showcased in the Auto Expo. The entire body is little longer than the suzuki iv4 concept.

By the time this is out, Suzuki would have readied their small displacement turbo petrols and diesel engines. The same technology, could be applied to slightly larger motors too. Meanwhile, I guess they will be getting Fiats 1.6 or a 1.9 oil burner from Fiat or Peugeot.

Yes ofcourse Suzuki will bring this product to India within a few quarters of its launch. They love to bring everything they offer, here. However, we ought to wait and see if they play it smart and put faith and confidence in their product, or do the typical CBU launch with poor marketing and consumer options which has doomed several of their brilliant offerings With the brand out of the major American market, they ought to be more serious in the other markets where they stand a chance. India being one of them amongst Australia, Japan and a few European countries.

re: Next-generation Suzuki Vitara caught. EDIT: Now launched in Europe

This SUV will sit between the Jimny and the Grand Vitara. It is also speculated to be the Next Gen Vitara.

There’s not a lot of detail being given away in these images, though it appears from the above image that the tail-lights of the new SUV will feature clear, honeycomb style lenses.
The below image shows the car will feature a twin-slot chrome grille, and it also appears likely to boast broad-set headlights and an upright front bumper
The new model is set to debut at the Paris motor show in October, followed by its European market launch towards the end of this year and an Australian launch in the first half 2015.

re: Next-generation Suzuki Vitara caught. EDIT: Now launched in Europe

New Suzuki Vitara to be unveiled at the Paris motor show- No India launch plans yet. Vitara is the production model based on the iv 4 concept.
iv-4 resembles the India-bound XA Alpha - which debuted at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo and also shares its platform with the latter.

The Vitara – which was spied testing in the summer – is effectively a replacement for the previous-generation S-Cross, because the new SX4 S-Cross has moved up a class in size to fight the Nissan Qashqai.

Quote:
Like the Grand Vitara, a four-wheel-drive option will be offered via the company's AllGrip system and power is likely to come from the 1.6-litre petrol and diesel powerplants installed in the SX4 S-Cross
Customers will have the option of personalising the car with various colour and trim customisation options.

The Vitara production model is based on theiV-4 concept which was first shown at the Frankfurt motor show in 2013.

The new car is based on an all-new platform, which is expected to underpin a number of future vehicles. It is likely to be built at the firm's Hungarian plant and is part of a model expansion plan by Suzuki.

re: Next-generation Suzuki Vitara caught. EDIT: Now launched in Europe

The next-gen Vitara features smoother body surfacing, especially around the edges and for the wheel arch flares. A clamshell bonnet with a fake air vent between it and the A-pillar helps to make a link to the nameplate’s past.

The new car also features a lift-up instead of swing-out tailgate and the spare wheel has been relocated from the rear door to under the boot floor. Tail-lights, which are wider than they are tall, help emphasise this new arrangement.

As far as size goes, the next-generation Vitara should measure around 4.21 metres from end to end, meaning that it will slot in underneath both the 4.3m long S-Cross, as well as the 4.5m Grand Vitara five-door.

It’s expected that the Vitara will share its engine range with the S-Cross.

In Australia, the S-Cross is powered exclusively by a 86kW/156Nm 1.6-litre petrol motor, but overseas models are also available with a 88kW/320Nm 1.6-litre turbo-diesel.

The Swift’s 70kW/130Nm 1.4-litre petrol engine may find its way under the hood in some markets.

To me the car looks more like the Range Rover Evoque.

Compared to the current GV, this looks like it lost all its identity. Extremely poor design effort IMO

This cannot be compared to GV. This is Suzuki's answer to Ford's Ecosport and Nissan's Juke and priced below the SX-4 Cross.

IMO, a spin off of this will be seen in India as the XA-Alpha due in 2016.

This is getting REALLY confusing!

Ok, so this Vitara looks bigger, more SUV-like than its sibling - the SX4 S-Cross, but is still cheaper than S-Cross? Its looking deceptively big in these pics then!

EDIT: Probably the thread title needs to be changed as well!

Yes it will be priced lower than the S cross. In India XA Alpha will be taking design cues from the New Vitara.

re: Next-generation Suzuki Vitara caught. EDIT: Now launched in Europe

So this is not a replacement for the grand Vitara but will slot below the S-Cross. The S-Cross is rumoured to going to be priced is the 10 to 14 lakh bracket in India. So if it is going to be below that then it is straightaway in the Ecosport/Duster price bracket then why not bring this car directly rather than developing a separate car for India. It will be a lot faster and with the expected volumes Maruti should be able to price it pretty competitive.
I am a little preplexed
