Well the Indian media has gone ahead with the decision already. The below links talks about the same. They went to an extent saying that the Aegea would deliver an astounding 29 kmpl mileage The report also talks about the sedan in two diesel and two petrol avatars with the petrol one delivering 120 BHP.

Mechanically, the car will be offered with 4 engine options- 2 Multijet II turbo-diesel mills and 2 petrol motors with power output of 95hp and 120hp. As far as transmission is concerned, the engines will be mated to either automatic gearbox or manual. With the diesel engine under the hood, the car is likely to deliver a whooping 29.1 kmpl mileage.

Superb design . I simply love it. Knowing about Fiat's past, I don't think we would be seeing this car in India before 2 years or may be more. Fiat has just given the old Linea a refresh.
Also Fiat never brought their other capable offerings to India, like the Bravo, Panda etc.
I'd be also in line to buy it if this is launched in India soon (within 6 months, which is unrealistic expectation )

This car is not a result of Fiat - Chrysler marriage and there is no such thing called as the Dodge Dart platform!! The Dart, itself sits on the modified version of Alfa Romeo Giulietta Platform. Fiat's Version of Dart is sold as the Vaggio sedan and Ottimo hatchback in China.

The Aegea project is based on the Small wide LWB platform (a derivative of FIAT-GM SCCS platform).

Yes, The Dart uses a Six speed automatic gearbox manufactured by Hyundai Powertech and it's contracted by the Chrysler group. I don't think it uses the Elantra sub frame as it's based on the Giulietta platform.

Aegea is the name of the project and is, at present, unknown to the trade name of the final new model; what is certain is that the Aegea was developed on the platform B-Wide , the same one that gave birth to the Fiat 500L and, with appropriate updates, the Fiat 500x and the Jeep Renegade.

Tail lamps are an easy give away... Looks Punto to me, but the roof looks a bit more curved & extended.

Could this be the new gen Punto on Aegea platform? There shouldn't be any other reason to camouflage Punto !! Mouthwatering 😝

Nope. It is the New Bravo on the Aegea platform.

Fiat will roll out the Aegea in its Europe, Middle East and Africa region starting in November as a replacement for the Bravo hatchback and Linea sedan

The production version will have sedan, hatchback and station wagon variants. The Aegea name will not be used for the production car.

A new compact model (Sedan)based on the Aegea concept will be a “frugal, well-built and practical car.”

The production Aegea will be offered with two gasoline and two diesel engines. The most fuel efficient diesel will have fuel economy of less than 4 liters of fuel per 100km, comparable to the Panda

The Aegea sedan was spotted testing in it's production-ready guise outside of Turin, Italy.

Already revealed at an event in May, the new sedan measures in at 4500mm long, 1780mm wide and 1480mm high, and rides on a 2640mm wheelbase and is said to be all-new, rather than a spin-off of the current Punto.

The Aegea will also be available as a five-door hatchback and also a wagon later on.

Spacious inside, it was just possible to spot (but not get a pic) of the new 5.0-inch UConnect infotainment in situ, before the driver made his escape.
