re: Fiat Egea unveiled at the 2015 Istanbul Auto Show

The Fiat Aegea sedan has been caught almost fully unmasked in it's production-ready avatar by an Instagram user. The exterior seems very similar to the Aegea concept which was shown back in May.

Looks good and a deserved replacement to Linea. The car looks solid inside out and the design is again very timeless which will age slowly.

Loved it and would like to have one if this machine is introduced in India.

WOW! Those headlines are simply delicious - very BMWish! This car looks super premium; please get it to India, Fiat.

re: Fiat Egea unveiled at the 2015 Istanbul Auto Show

Hopefully more space at the rear. The current Linea - despite being the longest car in its class had pretty average legroom at the rear.

Fiat needs to learn a thing or two about space utilization from Honda (or even Maruti)

Dear loki,

I agree more space would be good, but not at the cost of thin seats (side bolstering), by cutting the under thigh support and smaller fuel tanks which has been the market trend lately.
I was under the exact same impression that FIAT has to learn space management (and I made a very similar statement on page 1 of my ownership thread too), however lately I have been realizing more on the compromises made by many manufactures to create that additional leg room.

Cheers,
pdma.

Agree that current Linea has less leg room than competition, but personally, I would not ask Fiat to learn anything from Honda when it comes to space.
The overall length of Linea is increased due to the long overhang at the front and rear. Wheelbase is still tight and that is the problem, hope it is increased in Aegea !

The car looks handsome but somehow I like the interiors of the current Linea more than Aegea.

Looks really massive in those photos compare to the Linea.
One thing I would say Fiat has to change in their cars is Seating Position of Driver. The most awkward seating position I have ever found in any car is in Fiat Linea and Punto.

Hi pdma - I own a 2009 Linea 1.4. It's built like a tank - every time I shut the door, it gives a proper 'thunk' vs. the 'click' of other brands. I also love the hydraulic steering which is brilliant at high speeds.

But I guess its just a small fraction of people like us. A lot of people have always commented on the positive features of the Punto (or the Linea) and ended up buying a Hyundai Elite i20.

My point is, Fiat cars for all their virtues haven't sold well. they appeal to a handful of enthusiasts and then thats it. We might appreciate the under-thigh support on offer in the Linea, but the aam junta will prefer perceptive space more.

Which is why they should try and look at why other brands are successful (on the sales floor atleast).

The bonnet line does not come right upto the front end but ends much before that. I wonder if it will affect the accessibility of the components in the bonnet. The funky interiors certainly donot look as good as the existing Linea interiors but the exterior sure makes up for that.

Wow front of Maserati, back of a Volvo, side of design of BMWs built quality of tank and 1.6 MJD or 1.9 MJD would blow competition out, the white looks killer too.

Good question, even I would want to hear that.

On the lighter note if I pronounce it in my mother tongue this is what it translates into, A-egaa translation - that fly. A house fly is called "eega" in telugu .

Cheers,
pdma.

re: Fiat Egea unveiled at the 2015 Istanbul Auto Show

Looks fantastic. If Fiat brings it with right engine options (1.6D and 1.4 Tjet Abarth version) - they would be able to carve some niche in in enthusiast segment.

The biggest mistake would be trying to position it for the mass segment. They are not going to woo the regular Honda City/Ciaz buyers with it. They should look for people who want something different - a smart looking car, with the performance to go with the looks. Excellent Ride/Handling is a given as it's a Fiat.
