Re: Next-gen Suzuki S-Cross to debut soon; to rival Hyundai Creta

My 1.6 has 6 gears, so it has already hit our scores, only they need to revive it.

Yes am aware. The 1.6 and the 6-speed transmission are imported from Hungary. And that jacks up the cost. The cost and lack of patronage was the reason it was discontinued at the first place.

Add to that, folks in Nexa don't know to market the product either; they can talk only in terms of big car, rivalry for Creta/XUV, if you have high running go for Diesel, mileage & finally end with "ungalukke theriyum..." dialogues (means, you know)

They never tell about stiffer suspension, tuned map for FE, a proper 5 seater, service benefits. Even during TD, they encourage the car with just 1 passenger & not a fully loaded passengers to exploit the power of 1.6. Even MSIL themselves I think to an extent was testing the waters with 1.6 engine to make the car available in limited 4000 in quantity.

And again, except for a handful of people like us care about what we buy; most of them buy a car just so as to become the talk of the street on how big, colorful & stylish their car is than anyone else dwelling around them, especially from the folks who despise them!!

6AT and 4x4 Allgrip? If they are not lying through their teeth again, then this could be the first ever Maruti car I'd consider for myself. Let me watch some off roading videos of the same.

Seems at par with Duster AWD

Maruti is likely going for a facelift as a stop gap measure until the new model co-developed with Toyota is launched. The tremendous success of the crossovers from Hyundai was a big wake-up call!

You have asked the million dollar question. There hasn't been any rumors or sightings of the S-cross in India recently. So that would either mean they will not release the S-Cross in India or even if its coming, its not anytime soon.

Frankly the S-Cross brand doesn't have a strong pull or mind share among the Indian buyers. So they might probably go for a brand new SUV-ish model instead of S-Cross which is a true Cross-Over in a .arket where buyers go head over heels for Fake SUVs and SUV looking hatchbacks. And please forget AWD S-Cross. Neither the market nor the company cares about that.

People clamoring for AWD are a small minority in India

I recommend re-writing the title to 'rival MG's Astor', as THAT is the new benchmark in this segment!

Re: Next-gen Suzuki S-Cross to debut soon; to rival Hyundai Creta

If Maruti Suzuki can come up with the new S-Cross with a decent design, latest features, good safety along with at least 3 engine options instead of fancy stuff like AWD, it can take on Creta/Seltos and even beat them. But old habits die hard. We can only wait and watch.

Yes, but so are the SCross's sales. In the numbers game, thats still a valid market that one can target for a car that isnt selling well at all.

I'm looking/hoping/praying for a AWD car for myself - but it looks like that boat has sailed. So for now it a race between the CSUVs (with the exception of the new Thar).

If the 2022 S Cross scores 5 star in crash test then it will sell like hot cakes in India when launched. I hope Maruti will price it well in India and not again make a mistake like the 1st gen S Cross.

They better do it, look at the competition. Kia Seltos and Sonet are making waves. Brezza does not competes with Sonet at all when it comes to looks or the features it provides. Plus Maruti needs to have a knight in shining armor to fight the onslaught from Kia/Hyundai. All I can say is - Its now or "Never".
