Well, I am not really a Slater hater. He is quite entertaining in his own way. But at this level, reporting the right information is so important. But in his age, Slater find it hard even to differentiate between the two drivers of the same team. It goes like ‘That was a fantastic move by Button, or was it Hamilton’

Re: Steve Slater's blunders during commentary

Steve Slater sucks! All he does is try to create some sense of excitement with his voice modulation but his information and analysis is much to be desired.

I find Alex Wong to be much better, though he does not do the live commentary.

This is real funny. It seemed to me like the commentrators were trying to take a dump while they were at it! I am sorry bt this is how it sounded like. No disrespect to their language.

Re: Steve Slater's blunders during commentary

Another one from the montreal GP,

When Adrian Sutil retired from the race he was like 'oh there goes the force India of Di Resta' when clearly when they wheeled the car into the pit it was Adrian Sutil standing there.

After a couple of mins when they were showing all the cars, hey thats wonderful paul di resta is back and is he back he is running in 11th place!

Another of his comments made me get a jibe from @Cyrus43... :(

Also annoying is how he keeps interrupting his co-commentators.
He's walking on Sidhu's footsteps

Re: Steve Slater's blunders during commentary

He was ok initially but then the "Just savor the sound of the V8 engines" and "the 5 red lights illuminate" started getting annoying and almost as annoying as his commentary just when they are playing the pit to car radio.

Another all time stupid statement from him came during the Schumacher era (almost every other race) "Schumacher is leading the race with a 15 second gap to second place with 10 laps to go but the question is, is there enough fuel to make it to the cheqrd flag. I reckon he might have to make a splash and dash" *** was he thinking??

Re: Steve Slater's blunders during commentary

also he insists on saying that the SLS saftey car is being driven at its limit.....does he even know what the limits of a super car are? AFAIK, the SLS is driven at 160 kph tops during its run and that is not even breaking into a sweat for teh SLS.

Re: Steve Slater's blunders during commentary

Well have always maintained Steve Slater to be a hired evangelist for Ferrari & MS during his days there. Chris Goodwin even though worked for McLaren was very much neutral. These days I guess he is lost as he doesn't have ferrari & MS together to crow about.
Peace folks don't mean to hurt any followers of his.

One other thing that really winds me up is when Steve Slater doesn't stop talking even when the Team Radio conversation is being given to us! Instead, he advertises "Petronas Race Central"! :X

Guys, its time ! I'm finally going to turn up the volume on Star Sports just to note what errors Steve Slater makes during the races and commentary . Lets see what beauties he comes up with this time.

Re: Steve Slater's blunders during commentary

Come on guys. He is only human. It is not easy to do real time commentary, and as hone of us have tried our hand at it, I dont think we should be this harsh on Steve. Watch the race for the fun of motorsport not to spot mistakes in someones commentary. Jeez....What a waste!!

I cant believe there are people like you who think Slater's mistakes are anything close to normal .

'Watch the race for the fun of motorsport' I'm sure you can do it with Slater making 3 mistakes per corner, but some of us really cant. Commentary is a major part of any sport's viewing experience and it is completely ruined by having an idiot behind the seat at Star Sports. I am amazed to see there are people who still tolerate him.
