Re: Formula 1 | Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2021 | Yas Marina Circuit | 10 - 12 December, 2021 - The Finale

That is some respite for Massa right there! Having seen jubilation in 2007 and heartbreak in 2008 I was certain it was not over till it was really over.

Checo was easily the driver of the day, truly a legend and the best team player Red Bull could have hoped for. With Max and Checo Red Bull had the better driver lineup this year which got them the driver's championship and Mercedes had the better car which got them the constructors championship, fair enough to both teams I'd say.

Not a Max fan, but happy for him. HE WON!

Also, the Mercedes / LH44 supporting comments everywhere are so entertaining. As if only Lewis has the right to win a race / championship.

Winning is Winning.

What a joke of a win. Hamilton was clearly the better driver today.

Max just got plain lucky. And stole a rightly deserved 8th world championship from one of the greatest athletes on the planet right now.

Sad day for F1, in my humble opinion.

All the Lewis fans are so bothered and unhappy. Well I get the reason for all this disappointment, but then, if he really is the better driver and the epitome of motor racing, then let him just get that 8th Championship next year.

As for me, I am happy that the boring monotony has been broken successfully, well at least the continuous streak has been broken. Congratulations to Redbull and Max !

Absolutely no one else on the grid had anything for Lewis, or even Mercedes.

The inconsistency of the FIA made this season so damn good. I always supported Verstappen throughout the season, but the pace in last 4 races by Hamilton was incredible. And Perez!! The best team player out there. Also, Netflix is gonna explode as soon as the episodes are out.

Merc have got their lawyer involved which Red Bull are apparently not chuffed about, so this is pretty likely to go into arbitration irrespective of the protest ruling.

Real possibility of 2022 season kicking off without an undisputed 2021 WDC, unless either side can be convinced to back off. What a hot mess.

So second appeal rejected, Mercedes will need to appeal in international court. I have a mixed feeling about this, while I supported max for majority of season, last few races had me rethinking about my decision, max had been brash and acting like a sore loser and kid, him walking off the podium last race was testament to this.

Hamilton on the other hand was very professional even in win and loss, even today, he was definitely the better man and better racer too today, luck had something else in store.

So close, yet so far.

Congratulations to max and red bull. Hopefully next season is closely fought again, but on track, and not on such decisions.

Totally agree with this. LH was around 8.5 ahead of Max when he got close to checo and he would have easily gone for a pit stop under VSC if not for Checo's defence. The end it might be the same situation like Max with Fresh soft tyres, but LH could have defended better with a much fresher tyre.

Also was wondering why LH called Checo defence was dangerous, as it was one of a cleaner defence I have seen recently and may its one of the "Tyres are gone man" moment we are use to.

Also Merc dint use their fresh Hard and went for a lap old Hard, may be they saved it for a VSC or SC but couldnt use it at the end.

I would say Hamilton deserves to win this race and Max deserves to win the championship.

Lets hope for a much closer and thrilling 2022 season.

Disappointing from FIA for a large part of the season, atleast some karma at the end. I hope the sore losers Mercedes take this to court so they can then investigate ALL of the so called "inconsistencies" which conveniently manage to favor Mercedes more often than not.

I think I am done with Formula 1, For over
10 years since I've been following the sport, I've never seen such a disgraceful end to a race/championship, race regulators making up rules as they go along.. absolutely ridiculous. Mercedes should definitely go to court!!

I would like to put it this way, "Finally end of the British Raj in F1"
The commentators were so disappointed when a non-British won today!

Eitherways! What a finale! After all these years and championships, Sir.Crybaby should really stop playing the victim card man!

Quote:
Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has promised a lifetime supply of Red Bull to Nicholas Latifi after the Canadian’s crash unleashed the chaos which ultimately led to Max Verstappen’s championship win.

The Canadian is at the end of his second season in Formula 1 and doesn’t seem to have anything like the quality to ever challenge for race wins and podiums, so his influence on this title fight is likely to be the contribution his Formula 1 career is most remember for.
Well Latifi did get something out of it after all

They sure know how to rig a race, when the race director at his will decide red flags, VSC, SC they can easily nullify any hard fought gains.
Masi should be fired and Fia should have checks in place to check the bias and inconsistency.

After watching the last lap quite few times, I feel LH let Max to overtake him at that particular corner so that he may have a chance to overtake Max in the upcoming 2 DRS straights.. Checo did something similar to LH in the same race, so could be right as I dint see him defending like the title depends on it.

But still its not the end of the German Reich, hopefully we see some other constructor lifting the trophy next year!
