re: The ULTIMAT3 - F30 BMW 328i EDIT: Upgraded with ///M Exhaust & INJEN intake!

Thanks for the really nice pics Karan.. Looking at the pic of the driver foot well, the dead pedal seems to be a bit narrow. What has been your experience so far, does it provide enough support.

Thanks !

The Dead pedal width yes it should have been broader.

Also to mention regarding the driver foot well , Yes, as seen it looks cramped, but the break pedal is quite broad than usual so in the picture it makes it look narrow.

Frankly i think otherwise it is sufficiently well spaced ,may be because i have always been driving M/T so the missing Clutch pedal makes it feel more spacious for me.

Karan, thanks for the pictures. The red seats are really awesome!

Couple of questions- what is the GC mentioned for the new 3? And does the car have an under-body protection (something like a rough-road package)?

The Ground clearance mentioned is 140 mm

Also last week i checked with the help of VIN No the many details & features mentioned of my car, here is a screen shot of one of the pages;

The ULTIMAT3- F30 BMW 328i. EDIT: Upgraded with ///M Exhaust, Injen Intake & Steinbauer Power Module-1.jpg

As highlighted in YELLOW ( POOR ROAD PACKAGE ) it is interesting to see the alterations done for the Indian conditions.

I think this code S815A is for the modifications done in the suspension system.

But poor BMW engineers dont know how bad the Mumbai roads are

Regarding the Under body protection i am not sure about this, Will check & confirm.

I guess those poor folks over in Bavaria can never be fully-prepared for the "rough road package" that Mumbai roads can throw back. Looking at the appalling state of our roads in places, at times I wonder if it is 'roads within potholes' rather than 'potholes within roads' that we drive on.

No wonder they did not offer Adaptive Sport Suspension which lowers the car by another 10 mm in Sport & Sport+ Modes

These 3 cylinder motors are just a midlife stunt. The Active Hybrids and the i cars are around the corner. Another 2 or 3 years, the current F30 to the V10 M's would all be classics unfortunately.

That's a true way forward unlike fingering these naturally aspirated engines too much. The inline 6's are out of this world. No comparo!

Wow karan, the car looks absolutely menacing and smashing. Your choice of colors look great too, both inside and outside. For me, the new 3 is possibly the 'best looking' 3 ever, as much as the fourth generation model designed by Chris Bangle. Congrats on the purchase and here is wishing you miles and miles of happy ownership. A great straight-from-the-heart review too!

re: The ULTIMAT3 - F30 BMW 328i EDIT: Upgraded with ///M Exhaust & INJEN intake!

Karan

I'm sold on the new 3. There is so much talk about the steering that has become lifeless and how the car in general has gone soft. Maybe too soft. But the fact of the matter is that our roads aren't race-tracks and a little practicality won't hurt. In fact, it just makes our favourite car more easy to live with on a day to day basis. And in the real-world, this allows you to thoroughly enjoy it. I'm sure most people wouldn't be able to accurately pin-point the minor differences anyway.

Coming to your car, it's nice to see a proper petrol BMW for a change. I really like how you've spec'ed your 328i. The red leather looks scrumptious and it goes brilliantly with the Alpine White exterior. Do consider swapping the chrome grill-shell for black ones.

Oh, and by the way.. I'm subscribed!
