re: Petrol Hatch to Diesel Sedan - Fiat Linea - Now Wolfed

Got the ICE upgraded on the Linea the past week and the dampening done today.

The ICE components that went in are

1. ARC KS6006 6.5" component speakers
2. Cerwin Vega HED 525 5.25" rear speakers
3. Cerwin Vega HED 600.4 4 channel amplifier
4. High quality input wiring + amp + speaker cabling
5. Door damping with 3M door dampening material
6. Cerwin Vega HED 124 12" inch subwoofer + box

A few pictures for the ICE upgrade. Excuse for the picture quality as all of these were shot with mobile.

The stock speaker and plastic dampening.

Will post the subwoofer pics as the ones I have currently clicked is not worthy posting it right away.

The stock ICE was not short of outright crap. With this set up, the ICE feels far better to the ears. Also the doors have got heavy after the dampening mats went in.

PS: The moment the interface for Blue n Me is available to map it up to After market Head units, the stock one will be simply thrown out immediately.

Will be heading for the alignment, balancing and rotation hopefully today to keep the 5K kms tradition going.

Nothing to complain currently, but still will get it done.

Sweet ICE upgrade. Am interested in the 3m damping material. Did you do only the doors? Has it reduced the road noise intruding into the car? and finally how much did the damping cost?

I got these 3M dampening material from one of the 3M distributors. The dampening has helped to keep away the speakers from jarring. How much is it helping in reducing road noise is anyone's guess as only the doors were damped.

On the cost aspect, I am yet to get the final number for the number of sheets used. Will update the thread once I get the cost details.

Did you damp both the inner and outer linings of the door? But for Linea it should not make a big difference as the doors themselves are heavy.

Yes, Got both the inner side and the panel facing side dampened. But let me tell you, the doors which were already heavy has gone heavier.

Wifey complains of the need to put extra effort to open and close the doors.

Yes. One weird thing, I have been noticing from day one is that when the windows are down on the left door, the door rattles while shutting. This does not happen when the window glass is rolled up. No other door is exhibiting such behaviour. Weird

Will check a few more linea before concluding whether its issue with my car's left passenger door.

Left Door Rattling is Achilles heel in a linea.
I have done a DIY fix.Removed the Power Window Switch, and inserted some foam in the gap between the door and panel, and this fixed it.

^^ I will get that foam added to the place you mentioned during the 15k service. Till then can definitely manage as the sound is heard and identifiable by a trained ear.

Got this while on the way back from the weekend trip.
