Got time after work today so decided to do the DIY at home. Had borrowed jack stands and couple more tools from BHPian interc00led to do the DIY.

DIY - Brake fluid Bleeding

Bought two 500ml bottles of TVS-Girling DOT4 brake fluid and used the brake bleeder kit to complete the fluid change.

DIY - Coolant Change

During the 30,000kms mark had used Castrol RadiCool concentrate and during the 65,000/70,000 kms mark had switched to Mak RediCool (Ready to use) coolant. The reason was I couldn't find OEM (Hyundai) coolant in the market and as per the ASC, I needed to get the car in and change the coolant.

Since the car had done 1,00,000 kms, I decided to change the radiator cap as a precautionary measure. Got the part from the MOBIS outlet and while purchasing, spotted the Hyundai branded long-life coolant concentrate. Immediately purchased two bottles for 300 each.

Yokohama Earth-1 - 215/60 R17 - 15,000 kms review

In Dec 2020, I had changed the tyres on my Creta to the Earth-1 by paying ₹8,100 per tyre. It has been 15,000 kms since the tyre swap and thought to write a small review sort.

Positive's
+ Build
+ Tread pattern (looks)
+ Grip (dry and wet)
+ Braking
+ Value for Money (Price compared to the competition)

Negative's
- Road noise
- Slight hard ride quality

In June, had observed a pin-hole leak from the front left tyre so had contacted the dealer where I had got the tyre and claimed warranty and got a replacement - Link to post.

Grip: The car has seen - good roads, broken patches, no roads in these 15,000kms but there were only a few situations where the traction control light had turned up. Mainly in wet conditions after taking a U-turn and accelerating a bit hard, the tyre does lose grip. In dry conditions never has the traction control light come up.

Ride: I feel at 34-35psi, the ride is slightly harsh than the Bridgestone Dueler HP Sport tyres that came as stock. The ideal pressure is 33psi but I have been maintaining 34psi all around. I fill up air once a month as TPMS helps me keep a check on the pressure levels.

Braking: Great! Sharp is what I will say especially after the braking MOD did recently to the car, the overall feel has improved a lot inspiring confidence in the car's performance.

Steering Feel: Not much of a change since the tyre size has remained the same.

Noise: the Main downside of this tyre I feel is the noise it makes. As long as the road is freshly laid, noise is minimal any rough patches makes its presence felt. On concrete roads, this tyre makes a racket! No solution to this other than bearing with it or switch to Michelin's

Wear: I haven't checked using the depth gauge but the wear is minimal I feel. 3 tyre of the set has done 15,000 kms whereas one tyre has done only 3,000 kms (warranty changed piece).

VFM Factor: Great price compared to the competition. Bridgestone Dueler HP Sport was priced at ₹11,000 per tyre; Michelin Primacy 4ST was ₹10,900 per tyre. I didn't consider Goodyear, Apollo, MRF and Continental tyres. The other option if NOT Earth-1 was BluEarth RV-02 but did find it to be on the softer side than the Earth-1 so didn't opt for it.

Have had 2 punctures so far and the above-mentioned warranty replacement. I shall check the treadwear using the depth gauge today and update the thread with the values.

SensAiry TPMS (5 pack) Internal type - 1,00,000 kms review

It was during May 2018, I had purchased and fixed the TPMS on my car (Link to the post). Had got it from Amazon rather than SensAiry guys themselves.

After having used it for this long, the negatives that I listed is nothing major as it was mentioned clearly on the website so it was a known point when I was buying it.

DIY - Power Window Switch Illumination (Simple Replacement)

Since Hyundai India decided to not provide this feature in the Creta since Day 1, I could see a few options on AliExpress as ready-to-swap switches for the Creta/ix25. Thanks to BHPian Ashtoncastelino, I could lay my hands on these switches. IIRC, I paid ~₹1000 for 3 pieces (including shipping).

OEM switch part no.: 93580-A0000
AliExpress switch part no.: 93580-C9000

The DIY is pretty simple as it requires one to remove the respective door pads. The power window switch is held by 4 tabs on each side which one needs to pry using a flat-head screwdriver to free it from the holding position. Once free, replace the switch with the one bought (4 clicks heard when pushed into the slot).

The connector is wired ready and it is a simple plug-and-play type. Hyundai India has just blanked the top cover and no LED has been provided but the wiring is ready.

While this is a nice DIY.

My point of view is, why add battery parasites for something like this? If you drive your car for a few days, you build muscle memory for the switch location and dont really need the lights. My car doesnt have this and I have never missed this feature even once.

It doesn't use battery power since it turns off once the ignition is OFF and any of the doors are opened.

This DIY won't add much value to the car but gives me a sense of feel to complete something that was lacking in the car and was on my to-do list since Day 1. Never got to buy the switch initially though and after 1.05L kms/4 years with the car, muscle memory is in ample.

Aesthetics value is what made me do the DIY swap.

It's an excellent project to take up. Simple, inexpensive and yet makes the heart whole.

It really irks me when manufacturers leave out a certain something that would've made an otherwise well rounded product..well, perfect.

The new Creta seems to be such a nice package overall, but I just cannot reconcile with the styling. Of course that's a personal choice but you can't deny it's controversial as heck.

The lack of power window switch illumination in the Venue/Sonet and Creta/Seltos twins also leaves me scratching my head.

The Seltos seems so well done in terms of feature list, styling, engine/transmission options et al but it lacks a panoramic sunroof of its twin. And then the NCAP tests further exacerbated the problem. Weird.

The XUV7OO. It has everything and then some, but they left out ventilated seats for some reason and gave it a basic day/night IRVM. What.

Marazzo. I have this unshakeable belief that if they'd marketed the (erstwhile) top end variant better and squeezed in the 6-speed TC AT in there, it would've been a booming success.

Maruti Suzuki and their 4-speed ATs. Ciaz and Brezza deserve better.

Mahindra insisting on using AMTs in the Bolero Neo and even the XUV3OO which is positioned as a more premium offering.

Tata. Nexon. Perfect in almost all respects. Same old AMT.

There are so many more examples but then this post will be 5x longer. Apologies for the off-topic rant, but I hope you see where I'm coming from!

As soon as I saw the thread go up on the homepage, I knew it would be you Anurag. Your extensive list of mods was one of the reasons that drove me to get a Creta because I knew that I could refer to your thread as a guide to do the same in my car . I even used the guide you put up for the auto-dimming IRVM for my Renault Kwid (my first car)

Anyway, I always felt that Hyundai not providing LED lights for the power windows was such a cheap move. They even replicated the same for the Kia’s. I want to try this mod on my car as well because it would help complete what I feel is a missing feature in the car - Backlit power window switches. However, with AliExpress being sort of permanently banned in India, I don’t know how to go ahead with the order. I wish the ban would be lifted but I guess that’s not gonna happen anytime soon.

I wonder if BHPian Ashtoncastelino would be able to help me with the spares as well By the way Anurag, my car has done close to 40,000 kms now - any suggestions on which tyre would be best for the Creta? Thank you

1. I too have the brake fluid issue (Not in Creta). I cant do a DIY, so planning to get it done in an ASS. But they always take me for a ride. I am guessing they might say some expensive component should be replaced. Could you tell me what brake fluid leak can be attributed to and the name of the component to replace?

2. Any specific reason as to why you didn't consider Goodyear tyres?

What budget have you set aside for the tyres? Any specific requirements that you have for the tyres that you would be buying?

My Creta has been running on Yokohama Earth-1 for 15,000 kms now, love the tyres on all points except for road noise. You can look at BluEarth AE-51 or RV-02 from Yokohama or Michelin's if you have that budget.

What exactly is the issue concerning brake fluid? If it is leakage, then check all the lines on each wheel cylinder, near the reservoir, near the ABS unit for leaks.

Goodyear, MRF, JK Tyre, Apollo were never in consideration. I am comfortable only with Michelin and/or Yokohama.

Also, if you search on T-BHP you would find complaints of tyre bulges with the Goodyear's. Knowing the issue, I wouldn't want to put my money on them.

I had replaced two out of the three switches and intentionally had left one since I wanted to open the switch and look for possibilities to retrofit a brighter LED in them. Opened both the switches i.e. the OEM one and the switch that I got through AliExpress. The architecture is completely different in the OEM one compared to the switch from AliExpress.

Since the LED used in the switch is mini-sized, the cut-out portion where the LED goes in to illuminate the switch is small. Not sure if a large dimension LED would fit snugly.

I've set aside around 9-10K per tyre. Primary requirement is low road noise. I'm leaning towards the Yokohama BluEarth RV-02 from your suggestion. I'll ask around if the dealers in my region have the tyres in stock. Thank you by the way for the suggestion.

Thanks Anurag. My driver tells me he saw some leakage and there rear brake doesn't function very well (I am yet to check, since I am not around).
Anyways, assuming something needs to replaced, do you think it will be a costly replacement?

As for Goodyear, is this a recent issue or have they always been like this?. My stock OEM goodyear lasted 5.5 years.
