2 of the major problems with it are - lack of legroom and uncomfortable ride

Err uncomfortable ride? I felt the car had a very nice soft ride. Am I missing something?

Just curious..The Passat & the Jetta have a pretty high rate of 'recalls' in the US. A friend of mine who has the 2006 Jetta has been through hell since he got the Jetta. Has anything been projected, with refrence to the number of cars being sold as compared to the recalls?
The '04-'06 VW cars had an unusually high number of problems.

Lack of leg room? Really? Wouldn't have imagined it! How tall are you?

i mean that compared to the skoda superb it lacks legroom at the back but still i can live with it and about the ride, i guess you should take it on the "real" indian roads to see what i'm saying.....

Agreed; had a ride in one and it was stiff as hell. Just like the C at low speeds.

Nice review. IMHO any car which has good handling characteristics will have stiff suspension & hence a rough ride. I dont think you can get both Comfortable ride & great handling at the same time(unless its those gas filled shocks on the new TT which stiffens on passing electricity)

I might be wrong, The Passat and Jetta sold in US are Mexican made ones and hence the quality suffered. In Europe Passat sells well.

Hey,

Is that the Fin tail model of Merc.

Pls let me know about the Merc.

VW there's nothing you need to worry with that badge on the car man,

My 1967 VW Beetle will still give any modern day car run for its money.

Congrats on your new buy.

True..some of the cars come from South America.. Probably explains the problems. The European models are much better anyday.

Only the Jetta and the Golf are made in Mexico. The Passat comes from Germany

Generally yes, but premium cars can have high-tech suspensions to overcome this. E.g. the BMW 320D outhandles my C, and rides far more compliantly too.
