Harjeev there is almost no difference between 11 and 12-13 at least for me.

Those who are getting 10+ with the beast should have no reason to worry,below 10 its something to check for.

And yes JK,it depends on Driving style a bit but not much.

my lancer i drive it with ac in delhi gives me 13-14 kmpl same as my dad my bro drives it same condotions 10
my driver drives it in same conditions 7-8
so if i compare my gas average 13 to 8 of my driver that is a drop of 5 kms to the liter whis is almost a 39% drop !!!!! (5/13*100)

as for the accent and the safari the driver hasnt driven it and the gas mileage between my bro & I driving is a diff of a good 20%
the indica had the same thing(sold now) and the santro we experience the same thing ....

what rpm do you shift gears at

hey, Driving style for me means 1 being a peaceful driver and 2nd being an aggressive driver shifting near to redline and downshifting a lot.

And yes of course,a technically bad driver will yield low mileage and seems like your driver is not a good driver.

Thats good enough for city driving, it also depends on the traffic conditions etc.

I also got 11.5 kmpl with premium earlier and between 13-14 on highways.

I am not complaining & resigned to the state that my cars have always been thirsty.

I get ~ 10.6 - 11.5 in the city.

I think FE all depends on the time that you usually drive. If a person always drives at the peak time, they are bound to get a lower mileage.

But then Harjeev touched a FE of ~ 16+ on the highway (Please see in post) during his trip to Amritsar...I am not able to rise above 15 on the highways

@JK, used to this every time. But I feel that once the engine has warmed up, a 10-15 sec cool-down / warm-up should be sufficient at signals since the duration of the stop is a max of 3 minutes.

But for a the first & last start & stop of a trip, I go the distance.

Don't feel too bad about it mate, my 3.0 litre gives around 10-10.5 kmpl (AC & Premium fuel) so you are better off

Since we are talking on this. The purpose of idling is to allow the turbo to cool down thus avoiding "coking" ("coking" is burned oil that deposits on surfaces and can lead to blocked passages).

The need for a turbo idling depends on how hard the turbo and engine is/will be used.

- Immediate Drag and a Stop after a hard run needs idling.

- Running at full speed and full load then immediately shutting down (heat soak) can be extremely bad for turbo and also needs idling, one should wait for 30sec-1 min before switching off.

- But if you are starting off normally and then stopping after a run in the traffic, you dont need to idle the turbo essentially.

I do not know if the Garrett turbo is water cooled in Safari or what is the model number but nowdays water cooling of the turbochargers center housing has eliminated the need for these idling methods (if its watercooled!!).

Does anyone know the Safari turbo model details ??

only if the timer is more than 55 seconds i switch it off.... else if i see the light red from a distance i put the truck in neutal take my foot off the gas and coast ....
