Dear ph03n!x, ShyamSCrdi, undead, djay99, kpzen, iraghava and numerous other Getz Crdi owners who have posted their experiences here...

THANKS :)

Rather than starting a new post - i thought it better to post here itself.

a brief update :

i've read almost all the reviews of the GD ( Getz Diesel) and am almost on the verge of finalising the car for purchase ( i know it's been discontinued, but have managed to hold a White one for myself). The On road price is coming to around 5.85L. ( was quoted 6.10L )

I am a sedate driver ( 70 - 100 khp types). My daily commute is around 150kms. Highway driving only.

Now my queries :

* What is a safe mileage that I can expect
* What is your take on the maintenance costs of the GD.
* Is there actually a suspension issue
* Since the model has been discontinued - do you foresee a problem in getting Spares?
* Any other issues that you might have faced and feel like highlighting.

* The other car in consideration is Dzire.

There is a serious conflict going on in my family right now, they are pushing for the Dzire and i'm the only one for the GD. :Shockked:

If i do get the GD - then need advise on the following :

* I plan to get the tyres changed immediately - and get Michelin (from what i've read here, they are a good choice). Am looking for tyres which shall be comfortable and have least impact on the good NVH levels. Other than that am a total novice at Tyretech.

Please do revert with your feedback as it shall be a important factor in the purchase...

* What is your take on the maintenance costs of the GD. should be more than a petrol but equla to a desire vdi , less than a skoda
* Is there actually a suspension issue - not if your using in a normal manner and not pushing the limits of your car
* Since the model has been discontinued - do you foresee a problem in getting Spares? GD and Verna engine share same parts so no probs on that front
* Any other issues that you might have faced and feel like highlighting.

My friends for normal use Yoko A drive are good enough, excellent comfort , low road noise, good wear factor and excellent wet road performance. This only has issues at sustain high speeds. Cost is around Rs 3300 per tyre the michelins cost about Rs 4500 per tyre and wear outs faster , but give your better grip which would also affect you mileage figures.

@Bapu- Grab the white rabbit before it disappears!! You wont regret at all, and every single one of those 150 KM will be thoroughly enjoyed...

Mileage- am getting 14-15 in city, 100% AC
Maintenance- Marginally higher than petrol, but then you dont spend so much on the fuel :)
Suspension issue? What suspension issue?
Spares- not a problem. I intend to keep it for 5 years atleast, and dont foresee any...

The only issue I want to highlight is that the car has made me travel more and longer, and that I am driving more than 2000 KM every month on an average when my real need is only 15 KM per day :D

Thanks Hellstar and Pho3n!x

My earlier drive was the Alto (CNG Converted) for the 150kms (sold off today for 2.15L after 2.5 yrs and 67K kms). And i've been having back problems of late so was looking for a comfortable car. That's how the Getz came up and after TD the Getz 1.1, nothing from the MUL stable even came close for comfort!!

And then i got to TD a Crdi and cant think of any other car.

And just exactly should be the config for the tyres?? I'll be trying and getting as many freebies as possible.. though doubt if the dealer will agree to my point. Somehow Getz never had any freebies on it :(

I would suggest the Punto. 150km/day in Gujarat needs safety not speed

Hi Bapu,
Here is my take on it. BUY THE GETZI EYES CLOSED AND YOU WONT REGRET. I do 100km a day (done 19000 km in 6 months time) and have enjoyed every mm of it.

Shyam

Bapu: Getz CRDi is VFM. Would suggest that you test drive a Punto too as its comes in similar price bracket. Ride quality & braking on Punto is better and it will give more FE.

My vote for Getz CRDi if it still available.

Hi Bapu,

Hellstar's answer is my answer too for your queries.

For the tires. Go for Michelin XM1+ 195/60 R14 for comfort . This size will increase the GC for a small mm .

If you are going for Yoko A drives , get them from an authorised dealer . They are VFM too.

Bapu.
For doing 150kms daily, you need a mile muncher and nothing comes close to a CRDi in terms of gulping down miles with ease.

Bapu -: Do take a test drive of the Punto and Swift as well before making any decision. Both are nice cars as well and can given better mileage for same style of driving.

As for Getz, since I own one, I would certainly vouch for it, specially for high mile crunching. But I felt Punto is more comfortable and ride quality is better than Getz and there are more safety options if your budget allows for it. What I didn't like about Punto was its cramped footwell (I need space for feet as well for long drives, as I have knee problems ) and higher noise in cabin.

Engine department, space and ease of driving (specially turning radius and clutch feel), I LOVE GETZ.
All the best for your new car.

When i checked with the local Hyundai Sales guy two days back, he said Getz CRDi is no more available in chennai.

Is it available only in selective Hyundai dealers?

Thanks Guys.

@ Hits, Jkdas and Krish.- I saw the Punto and it might have better features. But then something didnt click. If you can understand what i mean.

It's either the Getz or the Dzire Zdi.

Am getting the family to my side :)

Dear Prajesh - AFAIK, the sales are closed only. No re-openings as yet.

On another note, i have written to and trying to contact Hyundai regarding the pricing of the car. Ahmedabad dealer has quoted 5.6L (though has only the biscuit type colour) while a dealer in Gandhidham is quoting 6.26L!!

Lets see how that turns out. Will keep you all updated.

My friend i own a Swift LDI as well and believe me an infant would mistake he car for a rattle toy . rattling stories about Swift are so many on the forum , so lets just give that option a safe passover ...

I perfectly understand when you say that something didn't click. I went through this while deciding between Fiesta D and Verna D a year back. I ended up buying Fiesta.

The dealer at Gandhidham is quoting the old price of 5.42 lakhs ex-showroom. If its a june/previous model, you will get it for 5.6L (4.99 ex-showroom) which the Ahmedabad dealer was quoting.

I'm not sure if Hyundai has re-started taking orders for Getz D and they have also taken it off their Getz website. So you will only get old stock for the 4.99 L ex-showroom price.

The Getz D has been discontinued. Confirmed with the Area Sales Manager of HMIL.

Just spoke to him about the pricing diffrence between Ahmedabad and Gandhidham. He has given me a number and asked me to contact the Ahmedabad dealer and arrange with him to transfer the car from Gandhidham to Ahmedabad at the rate of 5.60L!!!! :D

Also, Hyundai has a strange rule... whereever the billing happens, the vehicle has to be registered in that place only. So if i wanted to purchase from Gandhidham, I'd hve to get the vehicle registered in Gandhidham only. Cant do that in Ahmedabad!!
