Good to hear that you have changed the tyres.
Even ride in my car has become harsh and in some cases unbearable because of 50 profile tyres. Steering is hard at low speeds.
I am planning to either downsize to 14" or get 195/55-15. What do you suggest?
If it is 195/55-15, then it has to be yoko-A drive in my case.
If downsizing to 14" alloys, i will have to buy a new set exchanging old ones. Again more money needs to be invested.
I like the current 5 star design alloys.

Hey. nice to see you after a long time . You have already upsized from 14" to 15". Why to buy new alloys ? 195/55 R15 has 2.1 % speedo error . I think thats the only option you can opt for . There is also 195/50R15 listed on the website with 1.2% error , but the side profile is 50 . May be our tire experts can help in deciding it.
I am running 195/55 R15 S.Drives, and the ride indeed is hard. But am attributing it to the S.Drives - not because of the 15" rims. Am thinking of A. Drives for my next tire, thought that is a long way to come!

I am not worried about speedo error. 195/50-15 will even worsen the situation. So the option is either 195/55-15 or downsize to 14" by either buying new alloys or steel wheels.

Yes ride quality in S.Drives would be harsh compared to A.Drives.
15" will definitely reduce ride quality compared to stock 14" becuase sidewall rubber will be less in 15".

If you are shifting to stock steel rims, fit the size kpzen has fitted in his getz. i think its 185/65R14 .
30000 in 10 months nice!

:Frustrati emm, 2010 its now! Thanks for correcting .
I am using my Elantra for long journeys . Using Getz only for local use.
djay,
which tires are you using ? I haven't felt much of a problem with my 205/50-15 PP2s except road noise.
Even I am thinking of changing the tires in a couple of months, they are ~25k kms old now and the tire wear is not same for all the tires. Any ideas on what could replace the PP2s?
Seats Covers Removed and Front Seats Modified The Story :
The Art-Leather Seat Covers are generating more heat while driving. And since the summer is around the corner, i am sure my back rest will sweat like hell. So, i decided to remove the seat covers and stick to stock seat covers itself. But, one more thing is always striking my head. I got used to long drives in Elantra and driving is more comfortable in it due to superb seat adjustments like lumbar support, height adjustments etc. I feel very little tiredness only even after driving for 800kms in a day. I wished i could use the same seats in my Getz. The Getz seats lacks lumbar support and thats the thing i want the most as i getting back pains often .I planned to go to Koyas , but i dont feel like spending much on cars now as i am getting married in May 2010 and those expenses are more important . So , i decided to ask my house sofa maker whether he could do anything for it. And YES ,we removed the seat covers by ourselves. And we installed some cushions and the result was GREAT . I am attaching two pics of the seats now , i havent took any pic while installing , but i will explain what we did .
1. We removed the seat covers by ourselves. Its easy , just have a set of pliers in your hand or take it to the regular seat cover maker , they will remove the pins and the seats and the rest.
2. We took a 1 inch thickness and foam and pasted it with the existing foam . See the boxed area in the above picture. Those areas are pasted with 1 inch thickness of foam. The seat portion is modified as it may provide better under thigh support for normal height peoples ,and not much difference for tall persons like me . I thought of increasing the length of the under thigh section , but i felt my knee may touch the dash board.
3. The Rest area is for lumbar support.
4. Both modifications are done for both the front seats.
5. Will do for rear seats later.
Test :
On the weekends , i went to chennai with my Getz to test the seat comfortness , and my goodness , both me and my dad are very happy with this. We never felt any pain in our back in both the journeys.
Verdict :
Its hard to imagine , how an 1 inch thickness of foam sheet can do a big difference to my comfort.
NOTE : This seat modification is based on my comfort and may not be suitable for all persons.
Undead- Advance congrats on your upcoming marriage and welcome to the club.
Nice little mod that you've done to make the seats more comfortable. I too am planning to do the same soon at least for the front seats.
Nice little mod there @ undead !! The OE seats are horrible...
Lovely report. Should be in the long term ownership section though..

Thanks . Shifting to Long-Term has to be done by the moderators . I have been running this thread from day 1 of my car purchase.
