Re: Suzuki Grand Vitara: 2,32,000 kms & 7 years ownership

Just a quick question Sudevji (and everybody else too): the tyre rotation on my GV is all wonky because the original owner messed it up; I just can't seem to get it into 4-tyre change together. Now 2 need replacing, really bald, but the other two are fine. All are HT tyres; can I replace the two tyres with ATs? Will then be a mix of AT and HT tyres. Any issues with that, as long as the size matches? Sorry to keep asking questions!

Try not to mix HT and AT.

Re: Suzuki Grand Vitara: 2,32,000 kms & 7 years ownership

Thanks, Sudevji. Getting frustrated at changing two tyres at a time, which also means I have to stick to HTs! I guess I'll run these bald HT tyres for a while longer and change over all four to ATs.

Does this mean that I need to have an AT for my spare, or can I keep one HT for that?

R_R, tyres are one of the most important components of your car. Don't compromise on tyres like this.

Just replace all tyres at once, and then don't worry about it for the next 40,000kms or more.

Spare HT is okay as long it is used only for service drives and AT put back as soon as possible

You may also consider going for a pair of used tyres to replace the bald ones for now and then once all tyres are worn out, replace all to AT

Re: Suzuki Grand Vitara: 2,32,000 kms & 7 years ownership

Thanks, Samurai, Sudevji and Narayanan.

I don't think I'll try old tyres, if only because old tyres in this size are difficult to get. I guess I'll just go for 4 new ones and keep one of the good ones as my spare.

Thanks, all.

Dear Gurus of GV.

One quick question for you:
My spare Tyre Cover(Which has Suzuki written over it) has a problem. The fabric part is wearing out and tearing. How do you advise I get this repaired?

Your suggestions are welcome.

Re: Suzuki Grand Vitara: 2,32,000 kms & 7 years ownership

Hi Guys,
I got my GV AT 2007 serviced at Sai Service Pune recently and I am delighted with the quality of their work and the outcome. The engine has become super smooth and many of the rattling noises have vanished and the car is behaving far better than it was earlier.

Till now the service from Sai Service Pune is the most satisfying service I have got. I think they are the best people to get your GV serviced from. They generally keep stocks of the regular running items and even otherwise manage to get the parts within 3 days. I can say they are the experts so far as GVs are concerned. One of the reasons for it is their owner owns about 4 or 5 GVs which are used by the owner and his family members.

There is fabric inside the tyre cover? I haven't used mine in 5 years. I had the fabric part wearing out on the hood cover. I just had it removed.

Strange, your tyre cover looks much narrower, and even fake. I have no fabric at all, and it is much wider.

Re: Suzuki Grand Vitara: 2,32,000 kms & 7 years ownership

Thanks and I get it. This doesn't look like what you got. But based on your experience, how can I remedy this problem? All ideas welcome. I'm thinking take it to a guy who repairs school bags etc. and get a new cover made??
