re: FIAT Palio 1.6 - 83000Kms update

I think Tata-Fiat offer spare sales across the counter. You can get the spares from Pandit and get them replaced at Acumen if at all required.
BTW, It seems Fiat is undergoing some audit as of last week. So there may be a delay in sourcing spares from Fiat.

re: FIAT Palio 1.6 - 83000Kms update

I'll put up a few pics of the damage to my car a li'l later.

I'm still waiting on my car to get ready so using a S10 currently for my daily commute. I have noticed a few differences in the 2 cars but not to the extent we might think.

Below are a few observations:
1. You sit lower in the 1.6 as compared to the S10
2. The S10 has a better low end grunt compared to the 1.6 but the 1.6 has more top end punch
3. Steering on the S10 is heavier even though the S10 is running 185 section tyres on 5.5J wheels and mine has 195 on 7J wheels.
4. Engine temp. in the S10 stays around quarter mark compared to the 1.6 where it is just below half-way
5. We keep hearing about the difference in gearing but I havnt seen it. I need to shift gears in the S10 the same as in my car.
Also, the in-gear speeds at a certain RPM is absolutely identical so am I looking at the gearing aspects correctly?
6. Head lights in the S10 suck to no limits. I drive blind as a bat compared to the 1.6.
7. The S10 is a gas guzzler compared to the 1.6.

Please note that when I mentioned 1.6, I mean the 1.6 Stile that I own.

Would love to hear anyone else's views on a similar experience you may have had.

re: FIAT Palio 1.6 - 83000Kms update

If i am correct the S10 / 1.6 Sport / 1.6 Stile` Sport have the same gear ratios. The 1.6 GTX has a different ratio.

The 1.6 GTX / S10 / Sport will have the temperature needle at 1/4th mark in a flowing traffic without Stop-Go.

Headlights are OK IMO - much better than the Hyundai Getz we own.

My car has low FE - but it doesn't bother me much since the car does a max of 5kms from Point A to B.

re: FIAT Palio 1.6 - 83000Kms update

My heartfelt sympathies brother. Tears roll down my face, when I see the above pics. I can understand your pain, for sure.

Please answer my following queries :

1) Did you get your car back, after the repairs? If no, then how long will it take to get your car back?

2) Are the spare parts readily available?

3) What's the estimated cost for the repairs?

4) What is that 'red colored fluid' on the floor?

Let me ask, do you own two Fiats? I mean Fiat Palio 1.6 Sport & Fiat Palio S10.

How about sharing the pictures of Fiat Palio S10 that you've mentioned?

Are you sure that Fiat Palio S10, Fiat Palio 1.6 Sport and Fiat Palio 1.6 Stile have the same gear ratios?

IIRC, the 3rd and 4th gears in the S10 are shorter. Correct me, if wrong.

Sir, what's the fun in having a 100 BHP pocket rocket, if you take your car for long drives?

re: FIAT Palio 1.6 - 83000Kms update

I get nostalgic looking at the pictures. Had met with an accident of a similar kind last year and had to bear similar damages to my car as well. The damages are very identical and would be interesting to see how it turns out in the end.

Am sure it'll be fit and fine very soon

Hello,

1. Car is not back yet. the hood is damaged and needs to be replaced but is not in stock anywhere. oddly, they have the old palio hood in stock and not the stile.

2. all other spares are not a problem. i'm just waiting on the hood of the car.

3. Estimated cost is unknown so far as the new workshop did not have the list of all parts required but i'm not really concerned about that. ready to pay whatever it takes.

4. the red colored fuild on the floor is the blood of my car . but seriously, its just synthetic coolant that was drained when the radiator was removed.

lastly, i own one Fiat so far but have acquired a second one as well. its a S10. yet to pay for it so not calling it mine .

i'll share pictures of the s10 as soon as i shoot them. havnt had the time due to a lot of work at office.

Kiran.

Really sad to see this happen to a lovely car, wishing that it gets back to shape as soon as possible.

Is the front cross member / metal bar thats in front of the radiator being replaced ?

By any chance was your car parked in Warje CCD anytime(4 months back)? I remember seeing a similar car in Warje CCD(opp to Shell Petrol pump). Actually saw 2 palios, a metallic grey 1.6 with white or black stripes, can't remember.

re: FIAT Palio 1.6 - 83000Kms update

It really breaks the heart when you see your palio going through such an accident. I too had a very similar accident during 2009 June 1st week and my car was in TATA-FIAT workshop for 3 weeks. The prices of the repair was around 40K. I hope they will able to fix the crash guard (metal bar) otherwise, that would cost a bomb (abt 15K is what I heard from them)

Please do update once the car is out of workshop

Cool! Both the cars looked very good, best Palio Stiles I've seen. Not sure if you ever notice my GTX there, stayed in warje for about 2 yrs and we hangout in CCD most of the time.

re: FIAT Palio 1.6 - 83000Kms update

Kiran,

the crash pics of your Stile 1.6 looks painful. I really hope that you get the car back to its finest shape asap. You got a beauty and the beast!

Seems the radiotor fan, bumper, cross member and the hood has take a deep impact. What all parts are you getting replaced?

Planet_Rocker and Kiran:
The S10 has a different gear ratios than our Stile 1.6. It has a shorter 3rd gear. More peppy than our Stile 1.6. I love driving the S10 more than the Stile 1.6!

Also the temperature mark as you said it prefers to stay near half mark sometimes crosses the half mark little above. The older Palio 1.6 do not show this behavior. Someone told me its with the temperature cooling settings for Stile 1.6 due to the BS3 norms (something like that i cant recall exactly)

Fantastic photoshoot, looks like a indian Ferrari

Keep us posted.
