But now the meeting point has changed and none of the options interested me from a photography perspective.
Hesaraghatta would've been perfect if not for the dreaded bird flu

Being optimistic, I feel there is something better waiting to happen for our cars to come together

re: FIAT-Ferrari in affordable trim - My Grande Punto 1.2 Emotion

On Sunday 18th November, I had been to a friend's wedding.

My car reached a nice landmark on the otherwise boring drive on the Bangalore-Hyderabad road.

The switch!

Tada!

Palindrome!
FIAT-Ferrari in affordable trim - My Grande Punto 1.2 Emotion-dscn1678.jpg

Close to 26 months to reach 30K at ~1150 per month!
Nothing can replace the feeling of being behind the steering wheel all these while.
I'm happy...what more can I say?

PS: can someone tell me how to get the thumbnail of a youtube video in the post?
I'm pasting the link as per the thread in announcements, but I'm not seeing the thumbnail

I stit on the driver's seat, fire the engine, slot the gear lever, press the accelerator while releasing the clutch and there I go.
On a serious note, I see that there is so less fatigue in this car that even after driving 300-400kms without breaks I'm as fresh as a lily

I expect to complete 4000kms this month. It will be highest for me in this car in a month till now.
It would've been good if you could join. Anyways, there's always a next time.

The 30k/2yr service was done on 3rd October 2012 when the ODO was at 28500kms.
The service experience was really good this time I must say.

I wanted to try a new service centre as concorde Dairy circle was a "just ok" kind of experience for me.
Based on BHPian Vidyasagar's recommendation, I gave my car to Prerana Kudlu gate. The SA was a guy by name Surendra.
I was impressed! the work carried out was a lot better than my expectations and there was nothing I could complain about.
I was informed about all the works from time to time and nothing unnecessary was done.
To pick one negative, they took 2 days to give me back my car (again informed me well in advance)

Problems with my car that I had pointed out:
1. I had complained about the weak AC.
2. I had complained about left pulling
3. I had requested him to change the wiper blades as it had started to leave two lines.

Solutions:
1.
The culprit for the AC was found to be a worn out water pump.
It had to be replaced and it was not covered under warranty as it was a wear and tear part.

2.
I have a unidirectional pattern tyre and to check if there was really a problem, all the wheels were changed to the OE tyres and analysed.
No pulling existed. So the tyres were only rotated and left pulling had only minimised but still existing

3.
Wiper blades were changed

Others:
Brake pads were replaced (Again)! The SA called me and told me that they would last another 2000kms and asked me if he could change it.
14000kms is a short interval for brake pads change. But from my previous experiences I'll always believe that "confidence is better than crash"
Also, with a long drive planned a few days after the service, I asked him to go ahead and change them.

Attached below is the cost breakup of the second service.
FIAT-Ferrari in affordable trim - My Grande Punto 1.2 Emotion-capture.jpg

I've tried to divide the costs into "specific to my car" and "general" and I've again subdivided them into more categories.
Grand total came to 16k. It is on the higher side but if not for the specific problems of my car and requests from my side, the costs seems reasonable.

Overall, I'm satisfied and I recommended the same SA to one more colleague of mine for his Punto's 45k service. He's more than satisfied too.

Worth mentioning:
The SA called me a week later to check if there were any problems. . I happily told him that there were none.
More such people will help Tata A.S.S's image.

2.5 months after the service, my car has now run an additional 5000kms.
Two weeks ago, I drove my car to Pune and came back.
I drove close to 2000kms in three days with 900kms on two days.
During this drive, I got a wonderful mileage of 17.0kmpl (mine is a petrol 1.2) on the MID
Below are some photos from that trip.

Awesome Hemant. Thanks for the detailed report. Coming to the mileage part, my two cents in pics as well.I really could not find a better thread to affirm the capabilities of the 1.172 mill. How I wish, more and more people break the "underpowered, low mileage, blah blah.." myth. And no one talks of the "dieselic" torque at 2500 rpm!

Let the PIX do the talking, for you of all would appreciate these, truly.

I hope you do not mind me posting 3 pix here.

This was 20-80 city highway no ac. 3 people on board.

Just one more question, how to you maintain the logos? Mine have slight oxidation spots on them. I am yet to try some rubbing compound (waxpol type).

re: FIAT-Ferrari in affordable trim - My Grande Punto 1.2 Emotion

Today my car added a small cosmetic...

This is like a Belli kaalungra: which translates to "Silver toe ring" in Kannada
It cost me 7$ including shipping from China. Its f decent quality with a rubber O-ring inside.

Meanwhile yesterday my bro-in-law had taken my car out for a spin and when I got back, the odometre read this...

FIAT-Ferrari in affordable trim - My Grande Punto 1.2 Emotion-img_20130106_203240.jpg
*I could manage only this with the available camera at that moment*

Yesterday my car was 800 days old and that makes it ~42.5 kilometres a day so far.

I've now shown this to at least 12 people and 11 of them have asked me the same question.
I was asked the same question when I got the Abarth logos. But, touch wood nothing has happened.

I don't blame any of them; unfortunately such is the condition of our country today.
Similar to the "Bad Drivers..." thread, I feel we need to start "Bad people..." thread where we can spot people flicking things like this

On a serious note, I didn't think of it. I cannot stop enjoying myself for fear of loosing something which is as small as 3$. I'll order one more set if I loose this.

I did see these but somehow felt that after sometime it would become irritating to remove the caps every time I went to fill air/nitrogen.
I hope I don't buy these caps again but if I get into such a situation, I'll buy the one with lock just to try it out.
In the meantime, if you buy them, I'll surely PM the owner of the hottest Ritz in town
