Hello silverado! Its been a long time since i posted in here. And nice to know that you're enjoying your ride thoroughly.

My Nano has almost touched the 11.5K mark. The starter motor was replaced last month by Kulathunkal Motors. Mine did not give any trouble and right now I am not able to notice any particular difference. But one thing I noticed is the service attitude of the A.S.S is a lot times better than before .

Have fun with your ride.
Cheers!

Hi Silverado,

With 6.8 K on the odo, I must admit, this car grows on you. Yes, TATA had contacted me for the 2012 starter motor and harness + battery mount + relays change. I have noticed the clicks that come (due to the starter relays) and it seems slightly smoother, else no changes .. I had NO problem with my older starter motor anyway !

My wiper blade gave away - was surprised to note the "Made In Japan" etching on the blade part ! Bought a spare from the dealer - costed Rs 178/- make Syndicate .. this too had the "Made In Japan" inscribed on it ! Don't we make wiper blade rubbers in India ? Fixing the blade is easy - be careful not to change the washer nozzle positions - my blade ran dry at times due to incorrect washer nozzle positions - throwing a spray outside - not on the glass, that's why it tore maybe ?

I get a FE of about 16 kpl with A/C (full time) in Delhi's summers - in winters now, its about the same - dunno why ? Do others get more ? (My driving habits are a little jack rabbit though)

Sandy

re: Tata Nano and life beyond. Update: 60k km and 12 years!

Nano is past 7k kms, FE has been hovering around 15kmpl ( w/o AC ) these days.

Have been using it to office frequently, which results in spirited driving half the time ( while going to office ).

Rear left mudflap has fallen off.
At lower Rpms in 4th gear, dash rattles a bit
Brakes have lost bite.
Internal Rear view mirror rattles.

Starter motor will be replaced when she goes for 2nd free service which is due in 2 months.

Can we get Anti-roll bar found in 2012 fitted to our Nano's ?

Also CNG version seems to be coming soon, how much is the engine rated in CNG mode? is there a possibility for existing owners to fit it?

Nothing much to add at this point , it has been happy motoring.

Spirited driving giving you 15kmpl. Pls get the ECU remapped if necessary.

Dash mounting can be tightened. Ask the S.A to add some more packing while fastening it.

Quite possible it seems as it is more of a bolting excersie only AFAIK.

Pls check with the S.A. will be at extra Cost I guess.

Have a great time 'nano'ing!

re: Tata Nano and life beyond. Update: 60k km and 12 years!

Nano completed 1 year on 21st march 2012 ODO - 7740
She also completed her 2nd free service @ pandit auto satara road

I had booked well in advance for 21st march 2012 at Shahu college outlet.
Had even informed that i wish to replace starter motor

Got call on 20th to confirm that i was coming on 21st.
I reached Shahu college outlet on 21st March 2012 at 9.30am.
Ms Shweta informed that there was no booking for my car

I had come all of 17kms from jagtap dairy and this is what i got!
I said i got a call from pandit auto, but she said there were no calls made yesterday.

She called Satara road thinking i accidentally booked there, but that was not the case.

Finally she agreed to take my car but said i will have to go to satara road outlet ( which is 5kms from Shahu college ) for service and starter motor replacement.

After 2 mins she informed that S21 update was already performed on the car in July 2011

She then directed me to go to Satare road outlet where the tech would confirm if it was replaced or not.

I finally reached Satara road Outlet and was attended in 15 minutes time
Tech ( Nilesh ) confirmed started motor was not replaced yet.

Left the car and collected it today.
As i took her out noticed that Steering wheel was misaligned ( to understand - with wheels pointing staright, tata logo on horn pad was tilting towards right ) , they corrected it immediately but had no answers how it happened.

Finally car was ready and i paid total of 776rs , which included -engine oil ( castrol professional compact 15W40 ) - 559rs, fuel filter - 28rs , Oil filter - 62rs.

Starter motor replaced for Free - called as S21 upgradation / CX/LX KIT S21

I also got NANO SPECIAL DRIVE2 updation.

Brakes were adjusted, Central RVM tightened, belts tightened, all squeky noises had gone.

Overall was satisfied by the service.
New starter motor is surely better and requires much lesser time to crank the engine.

It feels mushy as compared to older starter motor.
Looking forward to get 3M treatment done soon

Have not fitted a music system yet, but looking forward to fit one especially the one without CD.

Pioneer 1490 seems to be good option, but none of the TATA dealers have that, might have to fit from outside.

Had a look at the glovebox today ( Pandit auto pune - tilak road ), they do not have one for sale it is only available for display as of now.

Quality is very good, does not feel cheap.
Available only in BLACK as of now.

It has rubber strips at back to avoid rattling
Its a must buy, i am going to buy only one - driver side.

There are 2 types in it 1) Lockable - which fits on driver side 2) normal one which opens with push button

Not sure if they are interchangeable.

Will visit the showroom on coming wednesday to check for glovebox availability

Yes, I am too looking at fitting the glove box, but the dealer does'nt have any of the Nano accessories in stock. Usual old story where the company claims this and that but not backed-up by the dealers.

I am not sure about the music system, if fitting outside will void the warranty? I am also being offered the 2 years/20,000 kms AMC for 3,000 INR. Should I buy it? Are there any better options.

Look at Nano website, it clearly says warranty will be void if music system is fitted from outside.

Regarding AMC, you need to find out exact details.

re: Tata Nano and life beyond. Update: 60k km and 12 years!

Nano has crossed 10K mark
Current ODO : 10121

Only Issue till date :

Blower conked off, replaced free by TML.

Air flow has reduced , but i am unable to find air filter as it is out of stock in tilak nagar pune outlet.

TML needs to increase number of outlets since all of them seem to be overflowing most of the times.

Apart from above no issues till date and car has been like - fill it shut it forget it.

My car has been used 70-75% of times on highways, which i never thought i will do when i bought nano.

Like the most : Driving position
Dislike the most : Sounds like a rick.

Service cost till date - 776rs.

Firstly congrats for completing 10000kms on your Nano, mine crossed 18k on 15 august.

Regarding the reduction in air flow, have you tried to clean the AC filter? If not, just pull i out and wash it under the tap with a soft brush. I clean the filter every two months or so and have not felt the need to change it till now.

Could you please tell me how to take it out. I think I figured out which it is but unable to open the star screw because of odd position.

Cheers

I will be visiting TATA showroom on coming wednesday to get the gloveboxes fitted, there are 5 gloveboxes with Tilak Nagar outlet in PUNE.

They are only available in black as of now, technicians are getting trained for fitting those boxes.

re: Tata Nano and life beyond. Update: 60k km and 12 years!

Managed to replace Air filter.
Its a royal pain to do it.

You either need a very short star screw/need a tool which will bend 90 deg.

Also need to be carefull and check before inserting the filter since it is also possible to insert it in opposite direction.

You will only understand that when its completely in, and you realise the filter mounts dont match for screws.

Also removing the filter is easy since you have to pull the handle.
Its when you are inserting it , that it becomes a bit challenging.

But it was worth the effort since air flow has increased.
