Re: Magnetic Sun Shades for windows - An alternative to sunfilm?

while cruising on a highway and with windows rolled up (read AC on!); this makes sense. But I cannot put them on to keep the interiors from heating up while the car is parked for long durations. The reason being; when parked in the sun, the frame (internal, on which the magnet mounts) gets so heated up that eventually it will render the magnet useless (Heat is biggest enemy of magnetic property) in a short span.
My two cents.

Re: Magnetic Sun Shades for windows - An alternative to sunfilm?

Update:
I ordered a set which came in approximately 6 days. Unfortunately, I had a slight problem. Two out of the 6 shades i got for my XUV were slightly damaged, i.e. a little hole in the netting at one point and a tear in the border in another shade. I have sent them back to the Autofurnish guys (A Rupal I spoke was helpful) at my cost (spent Rs.390 by EMS, i.e. 270 for the actual courier and 120 for packing it) and am now waiting for the replacements that Rupal has assured me of.
The fit when I tried one of them was not too good, I thought it was slightly big for the car.
Have pointed this out to Rupal and he has assured me he will send in a perfect set.
Fingers crossed!
Will update as I get this in and install.
Cheers!

Re: Magnetic Sun Shades for windows - An alternative to sunfilm?

Hello Bhpians,

I am using similar shades from a different company for the past 2 months, technically this may not be allowed by the cops as the clause is visibility and not films.

However at traffic lights i have had instances where the cops come close to the car to inspect the same and just turn back after a glance.

I am using one on my Ertiga (6 pieces) and my new honda city ( 4 pieces), a couple of close friends have also used them on their cars like the innova, Verna, Vento, Jazz. the cost of this is 5.5k for any car. The fitting is decent and i do not have any complaints so far from any of the cars.

Re: Magnetic Sun Shades for windows - An alternative to sunfilm?

I ordered mine on 28th of march and I had a payment error but my card was charged. I wrote to the website owner listed in autofurnish website and after 4 days they replied saying they would get back to me the following day, Thats it. Till date there was no reply, no update whatsoever. I checked with my bank and they say the seller claimed money on april 2nd. I called them atleast 40 times but nobody answered the call nor did they call back. They did not even respond to text and whatsapp messages.

Did anybody face a similar issue with them?

Hi Vinay,

By now you have used the shade on your Fortuner for month or so. Whats your feedback ?

Will it be good in Delhi ?

I wished that it could easily be removed so that I install it only during upcountry drive.

Thanks

Re: Magnetic Sun Shades for windows - An alternative to sunfilm?

Its good on long distance runs.
Bad for the Driver as Almost all highways have tolls
Mid row fitting is not great and will take a lot of time and effort to get it fixed.
finicky passengers will not like this as they lose access to the window
Overall, unless you are plagued by blistering heat, this doesnt seem to be too practical.

Re: Magnetic Sun Shades for windows - An alternative to sunfilm?

Hi Vinay

Thanks. I feel the same.
Therefore, it would be better to go for Sun-protection coating on all the glasses as done by getsurya on his Fortuner.

Any other visible coating or shade will not be acceptable to Delhi Police.

I have a film with a thin wire frame which is somewhat the shape of a window and gets stuck on the window or fitted in the frame. Got it for 400 bucks for a set of 4. I am unable to explain exactly I'll post a picture later.

+1. A review long pending from my side.

- I have it for some time now
- 6 sets pieces
- 2 for quarter glass, 2 for rear and 2 for front.
- They come with a cover.
- I keep the set in the boot.

- Quarter glass pair fits very snugly. I have installed it permanently
- The other 4 dont fit very nicely. But yes they do the job
- I use it only for the highways. And again for that the usage, the front seat usage does not make sense, as you may have roll-up and down many a times
- For the back seat, with the windows rolled up, you can sneak it between lock lever and "almost" snugly stick it.
- But it does not give you that satisfied feeling like that of a lever falling into its place.
- The counter thought is, if one plans to use only for the highway, which is once in a while, then why pay 4K ?
- But then on second thought, it serves the purpose, when most needed.

- I know snaps are due. Will add them in some time.

Here are some snaps of the fitting. One can see, they just do the job. Not a workman like finish.

I want something for my Liva and eagerly awaiting for the pics from your side,

Seems cheap enough and i am interested to know if it keeps the heat down ? or reduces Sun glare ? for me anything would do.

From where did you buy this ?
