Hi All,

I have scrolled through all the 13 pages of this topic and it has helped me to understand what GPS is, though I am still a novice to understand most of what is discussed here.

I have eliminated the option of a mobile enabled GPS. But what help I need is

1. I want a GPS system which I can use with my car and also while trekking (read while going on tours domestic or abroad).

2. My budget is upto Rs. 12000/- (can stretch a bit more)

So what are the options in terms of model and their prices available here in India.

I would not mind if the GPS allows to receive and make calls using my mobile. I am not sure whether this can be done.

I would suggest a Nokia mobile phone with 3 inch or bigger touchscreen.

You get GPS + Navigation for free with Nokia phones. You can load maps for any country that you are planning to visit on phone for free.

What? It even works as a phone?

Glad you're happy with your 5230. It seems like a great price for all that.

I also have the 5230 and using Nokia-maps inside cities and Google-maps on highways.

Did you order from Mapmyindia on the net or went to some store to load it?
How much did you pay?
And if you ordered from the net how did you load it on your sd-card?

manim,

You can purchase it online from Sygic, car navigation for iPhone, Android, Symbian, Windows Mobile and Linux mobile devices

You will receive a code that would be required to activate the product. Cost is $99. Download size is approx 300 MB. It includes maps for India and few other counties in this region.

Yes you can store and browse maps for free. Visit Ovi Maps to download Nokia maps.

Don't think navigation would work on this phone.

Ohhh I ment in terms of looks and I was wondering how would it be using GPS with smaller screen, will it be really uncomfartable or is it advisible to go for a GPS phone which has a bigger screen as 5230.

5230 is better than E71 in terms of GPS. It is primarily due to larger screen of 5230 and touch screen.
