Gogi: That makes sense :-) Btw will a lower Placemnet like I said be good for cities like Pune which do not flood or will rains still be spoil sport?

Nitrous: Will the performance be same with Stock Replacement (I think not)

Exactly its more a Metallic rasp. Not too loud but it still bugs me. Im going in for the stock tail pipe. That should quieten things up a bit.

See its not only the flood. During rains, when one is driving behind other cars (which you will be, behind some car always), the spatter from their rear tyres will be taken in by the filter too. In prolonged driving conditions and continous rains this will cause a problem eventually. I have given my car for the shield today. Will post pics and report of the change today.

A CAI will only be as effective as the rest of it's components. You can shield the filter, but if your intake pipe is made of metal, it will still heat up the air. I wonder if ceramic coating the intake pipe would work.

V-16 i think headers is enough for you if the sound is bugging.

Thanks Gogi that explains well.

Now one more doubt after reading past few posts(Sorry if I am going OT) What will be the difference in performance in following two scenarios:

1) Custom Headers with FFE
2) Custom Headers with stock tail pipe

Please let me know

The performance difference actually will not drop unless there is a gross miscalculation in the design of the headers vis a vis the end can. Thats why when getting a header job with a FFE always go to a reputed and good person who knows his job and not some silencer welding guy. The headers on my car is a custom design from Mid and Top range performance.

Although the shape is different, the surface area is not much diferent.
The difference in temperature of an exposed (to the radiator fan) conical filter compared to the stock CAI should be more than 10 degrees celsius and this would make a lot of difference.
And for a non-FI 1.3 engine(although ported, polished and massaged ),a stock replacement is moooore than enough.

Sorry Harry I dont really remember but then thats me. You should've waved me down, we could've chatted. I live in Dadar so you will see me constantly in those gallis. I would've personally liked a more throatier sound but then that comes only in the loudest version which i didn't want.

Tyre query

Nice car V-16.. i noticed you have put 205/55/R15 on your car, i plan on going for the same size on my swift. so wanted your feedback on them.

Do the tyres touch the body at full turn or any point. is there any contact with body at full load (3 people in back seat)?
