How does your car smell

I guess this topic is important. I usually park my car under the sun.
No! This is not intentional but I have no choice but OCC.

I guess the heat from the sun, kind of forms vapors inside the cabin and creates a pungent odor - a mixture from plastics dashboard/seats and rubber mats stuffs. It is not so bad but yes it sounds uncomfortable for first 10mins. I roll down the windows and turn on the AC until the heat escapes out.

Solutions:
* I used to have odonil (1/2 bar) and/or naphthalene cubes (2 cubes) under the seats and it used to last more than a month. But then the family started complaining about this and I stopped this procedure.

* I still use car freshners/sprays/etc., but it is just instantaneous.

* I now stock the dash with fresh jasmine flowers or fill a cover with rose flower petals and leave it open under the seat. This costs about 10/- to 25/- once in every 5days or most importantly when I take my family out. This is has been accepted by family.

Try it and I hope everybody in your family would like it. It still smells good even when exposed to hot sun. Good luck!

Have tried Areon, My shaldan, Little Trees and Glade. None had a lasting spread for long and the spread wasn't great either.

So what should I go for now?
(Potpourri seems out)

The quality of MyShaldan has gown down drastically. I bought a tin last week from hypercity and it barely fills the car now. I never drive with the window down and the car is parked underground or in the shade 90% of the time.

I guess there's a breed of realistic fakes or My Shaldan has really gone down the dump.

On a different note, I bought the new ambipur perfume. Seems to be doing ok. Very light perfume. However I'm not a fan of perfumes anywhere near the dashboard. So this one may retire very soon.

Any advice on better perfumes? I prefer citrus smells. They're give you that fresh feeling inside the car.

Has anyone tried Insta Finish perfumes that Autofresh is selling? They have a lot of flavors in them. Havent read any reviews about them anywhere online.

Car still has the new car smell. I kinda like it, not planning on getting anything soon unless it really starts to smell. In that case, i am planning on getting something imported from the states. My brother says that there are a good selection of brands over there and they are really good.

I tried Nulon Ocean Gel. Was cheap and I figured I'll give it a shot.

The smell is pleasant. The can is half the size of Areon/Shaldan though and hence it's around 100 bucks. Not sure how long it would last.

Hi Guys,

Caught in a peculiar situation. A Watermelon decayed inside the car as I forgot to take it out after a shopping trip and the car was not used for 10-15 days after that since I was travelling.

In the heat of Delhi, it created a mess inside the car, even proving to be a breeding ground for small worms. I cleaned the car, used a disinfectant, and yesterday got it drycleaned by Bosch. A faint smell still lingers there. How do i get rid of it?

Hey guys, I use this Glade air freshner. It works perfectly in my Evoque. The car always has a pleasant smell when I enter it. Not too strong nor is it weak.

I put it in the car in February and the effect is still there.
Thing is, my dad bought this in Kuwait and he doesn't remember where he got it.

Not sure where to get in Chennai though. :(

I bought Areon Ken Black Crystal (35gm) yesterday. It cost me INR 250 from a known shop.

It is by far the best freshener that I have bought till date. The smell is amazing!

Mine actually smells great! The 3M interior treatment that I got done has lasted for more than a month in the monsoon.. Great stuff.

Although a customer's BMW, that came in for a mod job, stinked. There was a Dead Rat in the Bumper

I badly wanted a car perfume and hence checked out in the car detailing shop at the basement of Royal Meenakshi mall and only "Cherry" flavored Areon was available. The smell is pleasant but not as good as citric flavors. I'll try it for some weeks and will order the Areon Lemon or Orange from ebay.

Bought the Areon Ken Black Crystal last week.

The fragrance is very mild and the container has a small wooden block with the perfume in it.

I had the Areon Wish earlier and loved it but since it was not in stock, I bought this.

Didn't like it much as the fragrance is barely noticeable. Will try something else from Areon next time.
