Got a quote for venus motors, Veli

They claim to be a dupot authorised paint booth(as printed on their board), he said he will paint the entire car in 20-25 days time. He will strip the car and paint it. Cost would be 25 k

This will include complete paint job including painting the door handles and the OVRMS to body colour.

A 3M antirust underbody treatment

Black/matt blcak paint for all plastic parts, including wiper arms

Wheels painting to steel grey

Though i have not seen any of their completed work, the place looks good. Does the deal look ok? please let me know i am planning to give the car by evening today.

^^ 25 K is great for all that, but, whats with the 20-25 day periods for painting the car ? Does it take that long or he has a really long queue ? OT: I was quoted 26K in BLR for a complete repaint as above by Sai Colorium.

The car has major body work, He dosent have a huge queue, but he says he will take time to do work, its raining cats and dogs here, doing the dismantling, putty work etc will be time consuming. he will strip it down completly then re do it.

BTW i have just given my car for painting at venus motors Veli (trivandrum). I will capture the WIP and post some pics.

Thanks,

Pramod

Why would you want to get your car repainted just now.... during peak monsoon? Wouldn't it have been better if you waited till later this year?

Anyway good luck with the paint job. 25k seems very reasonable for all the work Venus Motors has promised.

I have been waiting since May, The monsoons seams to like gods own country so much that they are here for a really long stay. He says monsoons could be only problamatic for the putty work as it will take more time to dry. He had asked for 25+ days for the whole dismantling and reassembling of the finished parts. The car has a lot of tin work, my friendly mechanic sort of learned denting and painting on it. Venus motors has a great facility. I hope they match my expectations.

He does not have one, he says its not required in kerala's climate. However when there is a dire need for one they just put some high intensity lamps in the painting booth itself. I will visit them this Sat to see WIP, i also have a lot of doubts about their work, since this is the only facility i have seen with a lot of equipments, i belive its going to be good. All others have enclosed booths(not the real painting booths), except for colourwheels which is charging obscene price.

Did not get this point. But, Pramod, I called up Sai Colorium now and the gentleman there, Bharat, said 2-3 days max with a heat chamber. Just FYI. While you haggle and figit for best budget, mind posting the before snap of your Mitsu ?

Hey Guys,

Sorry for not updating this thread, I kind a got held up with some work and the WIP is really slow, I gave the car to Venus motors on 7th Sep and the target date was the first week of Oct, but now it looks like the first week of Nov, any ways here are some before and WIP pics

Picasa Web Albums - Pramod - Project Silve...

I had to raise my voice during my recent visits to speedup things, other wise very satisfied with the work, they are slow but good.

Thanks for the compliments guys, new logos are on the list both for the front as well as the rear, Time is a killer. The nearest mitsu A S S is 10 Kms away, and i am really tied up this week. This is just the first stage of the restoration, Next is fixing the suspension and minor leaks in the engine, We are waiting for the suspension components to arrive (orders have been placed). Can anyone help me with the cost of a Mitsu power antenna from the junkyard(Mine is broken and the new one costs a bomb).
