Thanks very much Krishna for the info.
I had one more query. Is Philips 90/100 Rally H4 emits yellow light? As Xtreme Vision is white light which i do not wish to install.
Thanks,
Ramki |
The philips rally vision 100/90 is very similar to the stock bulbs in terms of color/light output temperature. However, they are far far brighter than the stock bulbs.
By the if possible get hold of the hella relay and wiring kit with the ceramic holders. See if you can get hella bulbs too just in case if you have not bought the Philips rally vision.
But let me tell you, the hella relay and wiring kit may cost anywhere around 800-1000 bucks.

Are Hella wiring kit and bulbs better than Philips in terms of brightness and reliability. Could you please provide the model of bulbs i need to search for?
Thanks.

The Hella realy and wiring kit is definitely better in terms of quality as compared to roots or PMP. On the bulbs, both are on par, however somehow I felt the beam pattern with the Hella was a bit better as the beam was found to be a bit longer than the philips.
The hella bulb 100/90 will come with a blue tip. So watchout for fake ones.

I got pulled over by the cops yesterday.
I have Philips Rally 100/90 bulbs which throw out yellow light and my parking light bulbs are white LED.
The cop said these white "laser lights" are not allowed. I said they aren't powerful at all and the main light is still yellow. These white LEDs don't have much brightness so it shouldn't affect the driver in front of me or in the opposite lane right?
So he said there is a rule which states that white lights aren't allowed in any form. You can use yellow bulbs of any high power if you want though.
So I argued saying there are so many people who have retro-fitted complete white bulbs, those super bright xenons and white led strips and stuff.
So he said we fine a lot of these people everyday.
Guys is there really any such rule? I have an extra pair of Philips EssentialVision yellow bulbs but I haven't changed them yet.
Oh and he even confiscated my RC because of the sunfilm.
Just contacted AK Traders, JC road, Bangalore and he stocks Hella.
Hella 90/100 bulb cost Rs.80/- and wiring kit Rs.700/-
Original Hella bulb has a blue tinge at the tip. How to check for originality of Hella wiring kit?

Can someone tell me if there's a way to make the mount more secure?
My understanding, and the method shown is that the projectors mounts on the hard casing of the lamp, behind the reflectors.
I get a lot of shaking when going through bumps.
So, is there a way to ensure wobble proofedness ? |
Mayank, which projectors are you planning to switch to. i'm looking to replace mine as well, the cut off on these is a bit dodgy.
Are you planning to buy a plug and play kit or something which needs fabrication like hella or some other projectors?

Why didn't you ask under which rule it was mentioned? Using HID in normal reflector is not allowed, but just blindly saying white light is not allowed is wrong, the high end cars with HID/LED headlights have upto 6000K lights, anything beyond will tend to get blue which is not allowed.
Once when I was driving my Alto with 100/90 in City limits, I was fined but not due to 100/90 but for high beam in City limits, the cop said very gently to use 100/90 in high beam only beyond city limits and streets without street lights, I agreed and paid Rs 100 as fine with proper challan.
Edit: Under CMVR page 166 -
(5) Halogen bulbs with P45t cap shall not be used for headlights on all vehicles. Wattage of halogen bulbs shall not exceed 70/75 watts for 24 volts and 60/65 for 12 volts systems.
I just downloaded entire CMVR-1989, and will read during weekend(177 pages)

There are several threads in the forum on this topic.

Hope you get your answer from the above.
To the best of my information, bulbs exceeding 60/65 watts are illegal in our cars. There must be some reason why all manufactures provide 50/55W bulbs in the headlight, though I have never gone through the provisions of the Act.

Pnp.
Ithey're on their way from sg as of now.
Going to be a diy install, hence no fabrication etc.
My previous guy made a shoddy install.
Folks, any source of 60 and 55W NB bulbs (single filament type) on mail order. I may need these for my Civic.

Thanks, but HB3 and HB4 are not listed. I did find car.n.more listing 9006 under the H4 NB's post but have not found the link. I may write to Nikhil Madan (the owner of the shop) on this.
