Paras, I'd suggest U use the Castrol GTX Diesel.
Im not sure if I can suggest synthetic to a high-run diesel.

Don't know what will happen if you use a Synthetic, But for the Flush- Just ensure that you buy a decent OWS or STP Flush Treatment- 1 can is good enough for 4-5 ltrs of Engine Oil, How much does a Qualis take-calculate it accordingly.

5W-50 should work just fine.

Nope, use regular lubes for the first couple of thousand km. Then upgrade to synthetic oil.

Getting 5W-50 aint easy.

I spoke to Mobil1 head office, they had only 5W-40.

Spoke to Shell, they had 5W-40 and 15W-50(Skoda uses it)

Now what to do, stick to 5W-50 and go all the way to Opera house or change grade.

Car - Chevrolet Optra 1.8
Flush GM uses - OWS

The mechanic says it is recommended to flush the engine at 25000 km instead of 10000 km as it would affect the engine life. Is it true?

Yes, its recommended if you havent do it before and I think the frequency he quoted is good. See if you can get the reason why one should do so from him.
