Saturday ride

Destination : Dindugul
Why : Biryani
Distance : 236.4 km round trip
Time : 2 hours 17 minutes
Avg speed : 103.3 kmph
Avg FE: 25.5 kmpl

My baby crossed 42000 km during the journey. Look at the things i was able to pack inside viaterra mini. And i had 50% space free even while having my raincoat, documents , water bottle and spare clothes.

The cbr250r effortlessly cruises at 120-125kmph all day!

Viaterra Mini: The best 2500 bucks I have ever spent! It did not even move an inch even though i was doing 120kmph almost all the time!

NH83 from Trichy to Dindugul is a seamlessly smooth road with beautiful mountains in the background.

It was an holiday today. So, i had free time to go buy essential stuff for the cbr. Cleaned and lubed the chain(need to clean the alloys though). Washed and applied polish. Looks as good as new.

Sad day today!

Hit a white crane @ 120 kmph. The poor bird came out of nowhere, luckily for me, it flew low that it got hit by the front cowl, fork, and got stuck between the fork and radiator.

No damages the CBR250R, not even a small scratch.

Viaterra claw, easily accommodating my 15inch laptop and office stuff.

Two days of the last week I had to take my ciaz to work. Fuelled up and ready for the coming week. CBR250R has returned rather impressive fuel efficiency figure of 28.5 kmpl for the last tank full.

Frankly I always get FE in the range of 30 to 31 KMPL irrespective of me pushing the bike to its limit. But one of my friend who drive's sanely and never exceeds 90 KMPH is getting around 34 - 35 KMPL.

I always push it hard. I mean, most of the highway miles I clock are in 8000-9500 rpm in the 6th. I am lucky to ride daily on the super smooth NH45.

Regarding semi urban runabouts, i don't upshift before 6500 rpm. I highest i ve got was 32-34 kmpl while I was doing 90-100 kmph all through.

But I am not complaining at all

Sunday ride to kolli hills

Kolli hills, translates to "Hills of death", holds true if you are not careful on its acute 70! yes, 70 hairpin bends,

Trichy - Namakkal - Kolli hills - 135 km one way

Started at 8 30 am



At the end of the trip



I did not have anything yet, so a chai stop at musiri (35 km from Trichy)



Reached Namakkal by 9 45 am. The route from trichy to namakkal is a 2 laned State highway, full of curves but smooth tarmac.

NOTE :
The following video was shot at a closed stretch (traffic rerouted for maintenance) of NH with absolutely no vehicular/pedestrian traffic. I was totally geared and I did speeds just for a minute to check out the motorcycle's top speed.

I discourage speeding on public roads beyond legal limits

Obviously, having friends at NHAI helps The 2.5 km stretch was closed for traffic as they were repainting lanes on the far end of the stretch.

Christmas eve ride:
Trichy to Vailankanni
Total distance: 320 km round trip
What happened: Roads from Tanjore to Vailankanni are terrible, back breaking and pathetic. Most areas new roads are being laid. If you are planning for Vailankanni trip, don't do it before June 2017. You will curse yourselves for letting your car/motorcycle travel on that roads.

Trichy-Tanjore-Thiruvarur. I decided it isn't worth doing another 28km to Vailankanni from Thiruvarur because

Trichy-Tanjore- 60km- 35 minutes
Tanjore-Thiruvarur- 65km- 110 minutes

It was dreadful to even think about riding back those gruelling 65km, but I had no choice.

I had to pick my wife from her college by 4 30pm. It was already 1 30pm when i reached Thiruvarur and finished lunch. Too bad on my part that I started by 11.15am only from Trichy. I planned to start by 10am, but anyways, I became lazy.

My calculation was 160km one way = 2 hours 15 mins assuming roads were proper. It came as a nasty surprise that I had to cut the trip short.

Had lunch at Marrybrown Thiruvarur, rode back and reached Trichy at 4pm

Total distance covered: 246.7 km
Odo: 43,618 km

Stressful day today. I leaned at a corner, unexpectedly road was uneven that my wheels where lower and the right footrest came into contact with the raised part of the road. Hero CBZ Extreme's front rhs footrest that i had replaced last month, just broke away.

I had to ride with my right foot on the rear footrest the remaining journey(40 km). Quite painful i would say. Bought another cbz extreme rhs footrest and replaced it.

Odo: 43,800 km

With every hurdle, i feel i am getting more and more emotionally attached with the CBR250R

10,000 km since purchase update

Bought at 34,000 km on odo - 7th Feb 2016

Odo on 17th November 2016 - 40,500 km

Odo as of now (30th December) - 44,008 km

That translates to 3508 km in the last 34 days, excluding the days when i took one of my 3 cars instead of the CBR250R, it is a healthy 100+ km/day average.

Very happy with the CBR250R!

PS: I am stocking up on the footrests too.

Distance: 215 km to and fro.

It was a nice feeling to experience the Chettinadu style houses and the roads were brilliant, though narrow.
