Re: Ridden: Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 & Continental GT 650 Twin

Are the stock mufflers made of Stainless Steel or Mild Steel? Can someone confirm this?

Any recommendations for a good Enfield FNG (who services the INT650 bikes) in central or west Bangalore?

I know of a couple good places - in Marathahalli and Kammanahalli respectively.

Top Gear Thumpers (Marathahalli - DM me for the contact info. of the guy who runs the place) and Manjunatha Bullet Garage (Kammanahalli).

Already aware of them and also used the former. But they are east and north east Bangalore. That’s why I mentioned explicitly central and west side.

+1

My Interceptor is almost 5 now and I would prefer to go some place other than Teknik motors for its next service.

Re: Ridden: Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 & Continental GT 650 Twin

Hi All,

I am experiencing this issue for the second time in my city rides: the idle speed of my Interceptor engine tends to increase as the engine heats and then lowers down to the set RPM after some time. Is this normal?

I read in an online post that this could be due to the air-fuel mix. Since I have installed FuelX pro+ which is currently set to 7, could this be the reason?

Thank you,

Is this on a cold start? IME it's normal for the idle to be higher for first few seconds and then settle down.

This is not happening during a cold start but rather after riding for a couple of km, mostly when I ride a bit faster in the city. I have never experienced this on long rides.

Once the engine is in operating temp, the idle rpm should not increase. On my bike with the Fuel X Pro, it happens only on cold engine.
Set the Fuel X to 3 which is the stock setting and see if it occurs.

Also, is it increasing by itself in idle or is it that it takes couple of seconds to come down after revving?

Re: Ridden: Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 & Continental GT 650 Twin

I’ve had a CEL pop up on my Int 650 2024 and when trying to identify the root cause without a scanner, it threw 1 long blink and 3 short blinks. Unable to find much about this specific to Interceptor on the internet. Bike seems to run fine all the while and no misfires, starting issues or stalling.

Has anyone faced this issue?

Re: Ridden: Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 & Continental GT 650 Twin

Hey BHPians, this is my first post here!

I am troubled in my head at the moment as I am about to buy my first (and most likely last) motorcycle.

I have little to no prior experience of riding a motorcycle and the intent of buying a motorcycle for me will be a toy, mostly to be ridden over the weekends and maybe some short spins at nights.

I really love how the GT 650 looks and made me feel while riding it- the riding position made me feel connected with the bike as compared to the Inty where I felt disconnected.

I have booked and made advance payment for the GT 650, but having doubts on the fact that it might be an overkill for me considering the weight and the power figures that it has to offer.

I am planning to downgrade to something more managable for me- a Guerrila 540 or even a Classic 350.

I know all three motorcycles have different characteristics and I would like to get some perspective(s) on my conundrum.

Go for one which is more comfortable, no one cares apart from you whether you ride Inty, GT or Guerrila. I have Inty and in last 4 years it ran just 2500KM, this bike is not meant for heavy traffic or for bad roads.
If today, I have to buy I will go for Guerrila , this is freaking awesome motorcycle.

Are the bar-end mirror any good for the Interceptors?
Aftermarket options are not good. I used them on my Himalayan and have decided to spend the extra amount on original RE Touring Mirrors.

Are the headers different size from the stock ones. Most people only change the end cans.
Besides Powerage, AEW also makes headers.

Why not a remap?

I'm somehow finding your bike looking a bit disproportionate. There seems to be a big gap between the rear tyre and mudguard. The modified seat is also making the bike look tall.

The proportions still look stock. Have you change the rims already or are these the stock ones?

Your use case screams “time pass” to put it simply. For this use case, type of bike, cubic capacity or any other parameters don’t matter.

I would suggest ride the GT650 again with the Guerrilla 450 and the Classic 350 back to back and see what makes your heart sing the most and get that, case closed. You don’t need to overcomplicate things at all, follow your heart and buy the ride which makes you smile.

Ride very carefully for the first 1000 kilometres or so to get used to riding a bike and feel how she behaves.

Please buy a full face helmet and decent riding gear for your safety if you haven’t already. For pointers you may search our forums riding gear and helmet thread.

Welcome to Team BHP jaykay0340.

Cheers
